Wow, another bad week of steps. Even though I couldn't do moderate exercise, I could have gone for walks around the neighborhood. Well it's a new day today and the rain is gone from Ophelia!
NSV: yesterday I said no to chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, ane chocolate creme pie! Went to my MIL with my SIL visiting and then to a friend's birthday party. I am proud of that (which doesn't make up for eating 2 donuts at work Friday 😝).5 -

Happy Friday! Off and running and ready for a pleasant weekend seeing my daughters in the morning at a coffee shop in Fairlee and then see friends from a chorus I sang with for 30 years. We’ll celebrate the Director’s 70th birthday in the afternoon. We’ll have some time to dance as well as visit and eat. Good combination!
Have a lovely weekend.
Such a happy post - it certainly made me smile!3 -

Are we really already in the 3rd week of September?! Time is flying at warp speed for me. Still don’t have my act together. Not totally off the rails but definitely not where I want to be.
I was thinking about my life since I first joined this group in February of 2019. I was living in North Carolina, exercising, losing weight, and watching my new granddaughter was my new job after teaching for years. Then, a pandemic hit, we were stressed and isolated. I was entering menopause. My son in law nearly died after Covid and an upper GI bleed. My daughter got a new job in Pennsylvania near where we used to live. We all moved, lived together for a year, I went back to working at my former school up here. I taught in my granddaughter‘a PreK class, while selling my house in NC and buying one here right outside of Philadelphia. I am now a couple years post menopause. My weight was at its low the week before we went into lockdown in March of 2020. About 185 I think. Gained during pandemic. Lost under stress of the move north and felt terrible. Gained after 1st move and stress improved, but felt better. Lost weight again before second move and was at around 201, now that we’ve moved, gained again and I’m around 214. Thirteen pounds since May. Ugh. I have had more pain than I care for at 59. My joints ache so bad when I get up in the morning and sometimes throughout the day. I really think it’s the disappearance of all my hormones. Sad in so many ways. So here I am. Trying to find motivation and desire to do what I know. Reactivate those good habits I had. Find time to exercise when leaving my house before 7 am and getting home slightly after 5pm. I KNOW I would feel better and it would be better for my health if I lost weight. I caught a glimpse of myself sitting in a chair the other day and I did not feel good about what I saw. Like I’m right back at the beginning and I kinda am. I joined this group at 217– I’m 214 now. I do not want to go above that. So the time is now. I know it will be harder now than ever before because menopause is no damn joke. It’s done a number on me. But I will log tomorrow and work to hit my step goal and drink 64 ozs of water. Wish me luck.5 -

OK - I'm 10 years older than you, and lost the weight around your age. I just want to give you one piece of encouragement - post-menopause is much easier than during. The mood swings calm down, you can stay at a more even keel. That said, we need less food than before. And some kinds of foods might need to slowly bow out because your body is different now than it used to be. Like all changes, once you get used to it, it's easy! The getting used to it is the work.
And your hormones have NOT all disappeared! There are still many of them hard at work in there making sure your blood pressure, sugar & salt balance, protein production, thyroid levels, fat distribution (yep, a hormone...) - all kinds of things are working right. So time to get going, as you say! Get curious - what changes help, how you can adjust in a way that works with the body you have now? How can you make it even better? Play with it - and it might even be fun.
And you have a great bunch of friends here cheering you on5 -
@micki48
I think being reflective of your journey is helpful. I am sorry you're feeling so overwhelmed and exhausted with your current state but I do hope you can find your direction. You have done it before and you know how to be successful. You've had a wild ride in your life since I met you and it can be hard to stay focused but I know from your posts here that you want to make the change. I believe in you!
The weekend was full of adventure. I had a full Friday night of bad choices, but I turned things around Saturday and Sunday. I rode the Peloton for over 75 minutes today. Yay! My football team also won (go Bills). We are about to do a late dinner and get to bed. Brad leaves for another work trip tomorrow... it's becoming the norm! Ack. We do not like it, but what can you do.
What was everyone's favorite part of the weekend?4 -
Best part of the weekend? Hanging out with my silly horse, and starting to put my vegetable garden to bed. It's a slog this year, but I got a good start and should be able to finish it up by the end of the week.
OK - time to think about Monday Numbers coming in from:

I appreciate your response. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. I had some annoying hot flashes during peri menopause, but it was nothing compared to how I feel now. Joint aches, extremely dry skin and everything. Even my eyeballs are dry. 😂 Mornings are very rough and slow. Now, I am sure that it did not help that I turned my life upside down at the same time. I was told and read that estrogen loss is not gradual. It’s a cliff and every cell in our bodies use estrogen. Now they are starved and rebelling. (My observation. Not research based.😘) Just venting still.
That said, I have logged my breakfast. Need to work on changing my mindset. I can do this. I can feel better. I can exercise. I can lose weight. ❤️

My favorite part of the weekend was getting to see my niece, Clover! My husband's sister visited his parents and we were able to swing by and catch up. She will be 2 in November and is a ball of energy!
Today has been a good day so far! I brought my work out clothes so I can go to body pump after work 😄
@micki48 I am so not looking forward to menopause. I am 37 and already have dry skin, nose, and mood swings. I hope your symptoms improve as your body adjusts!3 -
Weekend was partly good, but I got some kind of stomach issue going on, and it's honestly knocking me out. I have eaten in 2 days, 1/2 baked potato, a half cup of potato soup, 2 bites of toast... I'm hot, then cold, and my stomach cramps to no end. It's annoying.
@micki48 I hear you, my estrogen dropped significantly earlier this year, like 95pts ( I don't know what measurements they use) and I've been on HRT for a year trying to keep it steady. My dr did say some women just don't utilize the estrogen in a pill. I tried the patches and didn't like them at all.. So now I'm still on the hrt, and try to supplement for my issues ( Tumeric works well for me with the joint pain, I use 3-4 liquid IV's a week to help with hydration, and have noticed lot of less dry skin, and I use magnesium glycinate to help with insomnia,. and mood swings) When I see my gyn in Feb, I am going to talk to her about going off the hrt, cause if it is not giving me the estrogen, it is giving me the progesterone, and they need to be balanced..2 -
Good evening Waistaways 😍
CW 225.0 lbs
Ive had an awful week.
I'm looking after my uncle who fell and broke his hip. His children are coming to look after him this weekend. He is lovely, 81 years old and so active, it is frustrating for him to just lye in bed all day and do nothing.
Have a lovely Tuesday all 😊5 -
Hugs to you @strong_fit_ells - it is hard looking after older people we love. I hope he recovers well! I know it might be long, but I hope he can get back to his active self.
You are the first person on the team to hit 4 weeks in a row in the green this month! Let that put a smile back on your lovely face
And get well vibes for you too @Gidgitgoescrzy - stomach problems are really not fun.3
