Hold me accountable

The only thing holding me back from being the father I want to be and the Father my kids need me to be is my health. Im not sure anything would help me more than to have a group to keep me accountable to steps needed to become that person again.

Id love any and all support, tough love or a gentle hand, all is welcome. And it would only encourage me more if anyone would ask the same of me.

Please add me as a friend and lets keep realize that being healthy on the outside might be all about our physical health, but that is only half of and if we are not healthy physcologically we are only 1/2 way there.

Welcome to the MFP forums, @KiloLima0818! As a father of four, I understand completely. When my kids were really little, I was out of shape and overweight, no energy to keep up with them. After losing the weight and joining a gym to lift weights, now my kids don't have the energy to keep up with me! They're mostly grown, and don't remember a time before I was a gym rat who watched what I ate. I remember all too well.

You're starting now, so kudos on you! Your kids will appreciate you for YOU, regardless your weight or fitness level, but by setting a good example for them, that's a level of accountability we strangers can never give you. But if you need a drill sergeant to yell at you from time to time, I'm sure we can help you out there, too! lol

Ditto. Two kids and overweight/obese throughout their childhood. I was the “fat mom” at all the school events and practices.

I wish wish wish I’d done this 30 years ago, but…..weight loss has enabled me to get down and play with my granddaughter, crawl on the floor chasing her, and even- to her utter entertainment (and that of the rest of the family)- riding her toddler sized Hippity Hop.

One of the best days of my life was when my other daughter posted “wow! Look at Mom go!” on our WhatsApp group

Do this for you, and do it for them, and do it for your wife, too. Best Valentines gift ever if you hold her hand, look into her eyes, and say “I’m ready to make a change for us”
