LESS Alcohol ~ MARCH 2024 ~ One Day at A Time

@SparkSpringtime69 I am open to any type of challenge. I would just like to have a place where we can support each other regardless of what it is. I know we are all in different places with our health. I'm not ready to give up N/A beer yet so wanted to focus on another weak area of my life.
I have given up alcohol which is huge for me. Been drinking for 20+yrs, but way too much the past few. I don't wanna end up like my mom or dad. Alcohol is the devil. It seeks to destroy.6 -
@I_am_motivated great I'm in! Totally agree, alcohol is evil. I stopped drinking hard liquor over a year ago and don't miss it at all. But I'm still drinking quite a bit of wine, although I have cut back significantly. This will probably be the year I get it out of my life for good.8

I can't believe that my wine-free Lent is almost over! I've got mixed feelings about that.8 -

I know the night isn’t over, but I’m calling it. Picking up my daughter from a youth group function that just ended at 8:50pm. Will take a half an hour to get home. Then, I’m going to bed. I’m exhausted.7 -
Another AF night! I would have liked a glass of wine, but resisted. Doing well with logging food and getting enough protein too!5

I'll do my best to join you. It's easter weekend and the peer pressure will be heavy to drink but I feel I can do this!4 -
Hey all!
No drinks or smokes since the slip up on the 16th.
I don't feel like going back to the drinking every weekend life but i also feel like my husband haven't done anything to put us in the position to want to such as going out to a restaurant or nice enough weather to sit around the fire pit. I can't live in the house at all times so i have been looking into these "relaxing non alcoholic" drinks that are all over facebook and other sites. Has anyone tried anything like that? what was it like for you?
Working out and spending time finding and making new recipes have helped keep me busy. Plus track and baseball have started for the kids so always running around for that keeps ya out of trouble.4 -
Another AF day logged for the books as we head into the last weekend of March. Did quite a bit of spring cleaning in the house and backyard this week. My husbands DD and family of four and dog are arriving on Friday and staying here. I decided to keep menus simple for this holiday weekend for my own sanity. We picked up some nice Easter desserts and breakfast items at Costco as go to’s for a small crowd and will do a favorite pizza place on Friday. My DSIL drinks only vodka and lime and we have some left over from Christmas. I decided when I started LA over a year ago I won’t be buying other people alcohol anymore. Why do people have full bars in their homes anyway and then let people drive — we used to but no more. Will aim for AF days until Sunday - want the reset before April is here!

LA - 11 - low alcohol % or under limit

Hi, LA friends.
I have not been a good LA companion this month. Nor have I been good at accountability. Kudos to all you who have! I've caught up with all your posts and can identify with a lot that is going on in the group. I have been really checked out -- first 3 weeks out of state and last week absolutely submerged in estate tasks for my late friend. It's a bit overwhelming, but there is light in the tunnel. I hope it's not premature to express that. It has been psychologically and emotionally exhausting. I am so not ready for Easter, and I took on no Lenten disciplines at all. Just hard to get focused on it.
I'm drinking >2 just about every night on weekends. The only time I've had 0/1 on Sunday is when I didn't have any left over. I'm not even making an effort or a plan to stop at 2. [ETA: And when I do have 0/1, I am perfectly content with that. But I think my contentedness is rooted in Saturday guilt.] It's almost a relief when Monday rolls around to get the devil off my shoulder. Now what should that be telling me?4 -

I like one called Nightcap by Three Spirits. Also there's a good one called Aurora.2 -
@NonnieDoiron and @xbowhunter glad to have the company (forgot it was Easter weekend - I guess that makes it a bit more challenging, but that just means the reward is even greater ).
@Stepawayfromthetable I've never tried those AF drinks, just AF beer. I usually just sip on various herbal teas at night if I'm not wine-ing it up.
@ahoy_m8 glad to see you back.
@Michieb125 I've just started my spring cleaning too. Your Easter sounds like fun.

Thank you to those that wished me a speedy recovery. I think I am on a mend?? I truly believe this has more to do with side effects of a new prescription. I will give it until Friday and see if most symptoms are still there.
Anyway had a 1/2 glass of wine after dinner it was nice, pour a 4 oz pour and only drank 1/2 so feel good about it.
keeping it short today5 -
Put my sheet pan dinner in the toaster oven tonight & while waiting for the timer to "ding" I opened my e-mail. "PayPal confirming your recent purchase of $211 worth of Bitcoin. Questions or changes, just call 123-456-7890". Entire body went into panic mode...Nausea, brain freeze, confusion...Should I call that number to cancel ?? Should I try to call my bank after hours to prevent the charge ?? Ignore the e-mail ?? I don't have a PayPal account...I would commit myself to a mental institution before purchasing Bitcoin...Ditherditherdither...Finally called Eldest Daughter in Louisiana for level-headed advice...."Just delete it Mama, they do that all the time to seniors, just delete it." Butbutbut ?? Deleted, but still waiting for something horrible to happen.
Okay, it's stupid, but tonight a bottle of Chianti is my friend. When it's empty, Catpucinno and I will cuddle up to sleep and neither of us will think about emptied bank accounts or gendarmes arriving at the door demanding money.
One month, two bottles, not the worst I've done by a long shot.

Yesterday was a rainy day, and I would have had some wine typically. But, 1) I joined that little challenge to not drink the last 5 days of March and 2) I scrapbooked all day again. Today is grocery shopping, go for my walk, start cleaning/prepping for Sunday, and go to Mass tonight for Maundy Thursday.
@forestdweller1 I’m positive that your daughter is correct. Just a scam and nothing to worry about. I get those emails all the time, and I don’t have a PayPal account either. They are annoying, but nothing to be concerned about… especially if you don’t even have an account.5 -
Happy Thursday day my LA friends!
