I made a plan for 2025.
1 I bit the bullet and bought proper fitting underwear which will also conquer the heartburn
2 I sorted the wardrobe to show what apart from leisure suits are presentable to wear
3 I batch cooked some soups and dinners for my solo days
4 I made a food plan within my calorie budget for a few weeks that fit Anne’s tastes too
5 I’ve diaried my daily exercises from two of Jessica Smith’s 6 week exercise plans because she incorporates cardio and strength for before breakfast and an hour walking or exercise bike depending on the weather.
To spice up the walking I’m planning to record my walks on MapMyWalk and cover all of the streets in my town and Anne’s over the year.3 -

You sound very prepared and those are some great ideas. Good luck!3 -
@DarkNightBrightDays
I’ve been faffing around for most of 2024 and blamed external pressure but no one’s standing there force feeding me to eat junk or gluing me to the chair when I could be doing things. I’ve got my plan on my computer to flag at relevant times.3 -
January's Goals - WINNER
Since joining our group, I've not achieved WINNER status. At first, I thought, easy peasy. NOT. It takes real commitment and follow through. Kudos to those who have earned WINNER status! I've not achieved CHAMPION status either, also something to be proud of. Kudos to all former CHAMPIONS!
Best to everyone for a successful month!4 -

I love your idea to map out all the streets in your town! What a fun idea, and it'll feel so satisfying to see them all colored in once you complete it!2 -

You’re correct, it does take real commitment and follow through. And if you ask me, the best thing about this challenge is that perfection is NOT required in order to make progress on your life goals. It’s all about continuing to work on ourselves, about coming back to it even when it’s not going as planned — which you ARE doing, so kudos right back atcha!
I’m also aiming for Winner again in January. I managed to bring my pass days down to 6 in December while being a Champion, which I’m actually pleased with. Let’s see how we do in January 🙃

I keep forgetting to pass on this message: @Maya440 says hi 👋😁 She seems to be doing well3

Ok, here goes. Eyes down, look in for 2025. I have a lot of weight to lose. I am both excited and concerned. Excited it may work and concerned as it is quite a commitment to exercise and track daily. Glad to be doing it in a group. Good luck everyone2

P. S. We define exercise as “intentional movement beyond your normal daily activities.” There’s no expectation that this has to be a gym visit or a jog, or any other form of “traditional” exercise. It can be any kind of movement that works for you, at your current fitness level (or complete lack thereof, as was the case for me at first!). In the beginning I counted things like deep-cleaning my cat’s litter box, or cleaning out my closet, as exercise.
Basically the idea is that you make a conscious decision to get up and move, when you otherwise wouldn’t have. Also you don’t have to do all 20 minutes at once: get a little 5-minute exercise snack first thing in the morning (a bit of light stretching as you get ready for the day?)… another one at lunchtime (a quick walk around the building?)… and you’re half-way there for the day. Then as you get in better shape, look for new adventures!3 -
I’m with @takinitalloff
I call
Food prep and tidy up afterwards, doing dishes, walking to the refuse bin or to to fill up the bird feeders and bed making normal daily chores and don’t count them as exercise BUT my mum would have been correct to count them as exercise because at 92 they were her movement challenges for the day.
I’m sure @takinitalloff would agree that folk with health issues that maybe use a frame round the toilet seat to help them up could call it exercise if they hang onto it and stand up and sit down again a couple of times. In the gym they call that movement squats.
I’m not into gym membership myself as it costs money, can be a bit regimented and you probably have a book a slot. Self exercise means I can have that extra cuppa before starting then take the laundry upstairs a bundle at a time and put it away. I like when I can see something for my efforts
I’ve not been an achiever on this group at all since I started and have even quit several times mid month.
My 2025 has a target to get to December and have stayed the course. Maybe in 2026 I’ll aim for achiever status3 -
Just a note to say that the issue with flagging a thread seems to be just within the group now. When I am in any of the other public catagories I am able to turn the flag on or off without going into the thread. But here no permission. Not sure if perhaps the settings on the group need to be updated or still an MFP software issue. dang. THought it was fixed...3
-
@SummerSkier That's fascinating, I had not noticed that the issue is fixed for public threads. Anyway... thank you for the reminder, I've been meaning to re-post this info:Click the little flag icon in the top right corner of any thread that interests you. When the flag is blue, you will receive a notification anytime someone posts to the thread. To unsubscribe, simply click the flag again to turn it white.
Please note: there is currently a technical issue with this function. You can still bookmark, but you have to go into each thread and then bookmark it… MFP says they will fix this issue, but probably not right away.
The easiest work-around is to right-click each day’s thread from the list (opening each day in a separate tab) and then hit the subscribe flag on each thread, closing the tabs as you go.0 -
Back to work today and back into a regular routine which will help with staying within my calorie allowance.
Have a great day everyone!1 -

Me too! The hardest thing about holidays (other than the stress) is that when I am out of my routine, I do not make good food choices. The best thing I could do for myself was ask my mom not to make/bring over her homemade cookies, because I recognize that for all my efforts in the last year to change my mindset and my habits, I still have zero control when it comes to her homemade chocolate chip cookies.
And in keeping with the "new year, new me" mindset, I really want to tweak mine so that it's less harsh than last year. I lost 30 lbs slowly and steadily in 8 months, but it took very rigid control and I was very cranky at times. This year, I believe I can have the same success while allowing more kindness to myself. I want more "I am taking care of myself because I deserve it" and less "I am restricting myself because I need to be".1 -
@kaferine69
I know! I am a three-meal plus two snacks a day person when I'm working, when I'm not it all goes a bit haywire lol. I am also trying to be a bit kinder to myself this time, the all-or-nothing mindset I often fall into doesn't help.2 -
@nansbones7708 - good to see you back! Looking forward to seeing your walks.0
