@PackerFanInGB -no you didn't make me feel like I shouldn't share.. all good. Good luck on having the kid back at home especially with the dynamic.. that can be rough. We (hubby and I) moved back in with our parents once while we were building one house and then back in my parents again when we sold that place and bought another and had to do major remodel work and couldn't live there during that time. I get along with both my parents for the most part but mom slips back into her controlling ways that I dealt with during my childhood years and didn't know better at the time. and Dad is a difficult personality with mood swings . Challenging times in our lives but both were for 6 months or less , so hopefully that will the case for you .. a short time frame..

I definitely thought it was like fate finding that lady with the home health place I chose to call. I will be talking to my parents this weekend about her and the services she might offer.

    JFT Wed Recap

    • Epic fail- I did good on my food until lunch , then I attacked the Lindor truffles and ended up eating 6 of the damn things. Which blew my calories out of the water for the day. I was under on protein , fiber and over on carbs/ sugar and calories.
    • Didn't do my leg strength workout and only got in a walking session on the treadmill. did hit my 10K steps atleast and had to shovel a bit of snow to clear the mail box, which was somewhat of a workout.. but only a short time.
    • I did get a couple chapters done on my course since I mostly sat on my butt all evening and felt lazy after evening chores
    • Put a few more Christmas decorations out after dinner too
    • Finally got the part back for the tractor and hubby got the driveway cleared FINALLY. It was getting deep.

    JFT Thursday

    • DON'T EAT CANDY
    • WORKOUT!! Might need to do it during lunch just to get it done. I am losing motivation at night with the nagging worry about studying intead..
    • Its snowing again so maybe more shoveling later
    • Get to town tonight to pick up dog food and a couple items at grocery store
    • Dog walk to end of driveway and back

    JFT Wednesday

    • Work by 7:00/7:00 meeting ✔️
    • Take doggo to daycare ✔️
    • Meetings ✔️
    • Home to let El out at lunch unless hubby can go ❌ But he made it until 3:30, yay!
    • Log Food ❌ Pre-logged part, but didn't finish it out.
    • Stay green ➰ Maybe
    • Visit mom ❌ They had a field trip to go see the lights
    • Trivia ✔️
    • Home by 9:00 ❌ Hubby needed to go by another restaurant to schedule a party
    • Bed by 10:00 ➰Pretty close

Yesterday kind of got away from me in the evening. We went to trivia and hubby drank a bit more than normal, not a big deal. I was driving, but he wanted to stay out later than I had planned.

Also spend a long time texting a guy who wants to re-home two 4yo golden doodles. That would make 4 dogs for us, though one is really old. Despite that, Tim and I felt we could give them a good home where they could stay together. Their owner had a list of requirements, all of which we met, but he wants $500 re-homing fee. I get that if they are young and you want to breed them, or they are well trained. Neither of these things are true for the 2 doodles. I told him my husband and my careers so he would know we could afford to care for them, but I felt $500 was excessive for 4yo dogs. He got a little huffy and did not reply for an hour. Then stated the same price again. I'm quite annoyed, if I needed to rehome two animals that I didn't want to separate I would go out of my way to make sure a good home got them. I wouldn't expect to be paid. I did refrain from bashing him on social media, I'll consider that my good deed for the day.

Enough of that… Today is a low key, laundry and gift wrapping day after work. Well after I clean the floors a little better. Old dog had an accident downstairs (I cleaned at lunch) and he threw up in the kitchen (I didn't have time to clean that one). Kitchen had stone floors it can wait until I get home. I hated leaving it there, but I had a meeting.

Fun thing tomorrow. I get to do a spot on the local news about a program we support that supports local humane societies. Should be fun. We asked the humane society to bring a couple of dogs to get noticed. This is at 11:30. Don't think I'm coming back to work after.

    JFT Thursday

    • Work & Meeting @ 7:00am✔️
    • More meetings ✔️
    • Pick up lunch for employees ✔️ I had reward points that were going to expire so it only cost $40 to feed 10 people lunch from Honey Baked Ham.

    • Check in with MFP ✔️
    • Meetings

I am SO far behind in posting on this site.. and.. in posting my food. Life seems to get in the way. I've had a lot going on the past 6 months.. too much to explain on here.. but . A lot of stresses and anxiety.

But… I am going to try and get back to posting, and at least.. back to posting my food intake.

I may not post a long to do list posted on here as much. I was finding that I was spending so much time posting on this thread.. then I wouldn't get my food posted. So I am going to try everyday to at least get my food intake posted.. and try and get on here as much as I can. I do miss reading all the posts.. and hope you guys are all doing well. I am like 259 posts behind!

This time of year I tend to get really down.. and I know if I at least post my food goals.. and can feel good about that … the one thing I can control.. that will help get me through the holidays. Growing up in a very large family.. and now … with just the 3 of us.. its doesn't seem like the holidays. But.. I am super thankful for my husband and my daughter, and our health. So it doesn't matter the amount of people you spend the holiday with… its the people closest to you that you love.

We had hoped to see our son in michigan over thanksgiving.. but the snowstorms kept us home, which was probably a good thing. But we have not seen our son in over a year.. so I really wanted to get there. So I was pretty sad. We saw our oldest grandson in August.. but its been over a year. Our son… well.. what can I say.. he is just too busy to come see us. Its sad, but that's the way it is, and I have to accept that. It takes a spouse that pushes things.. and unfortunately, our sons wife.. her family is all that seems to matter to her. She says she loves to see us, but we tried to plan a visit since september.. but they are always too busy. T he only time they had was thanksgiving.. and even then.. we would have had to drive another 3 hours to spend the day with her family. We like her parents.. but… having not seen our grands or are son in over a year.. we wanted to spend time with them. With the storms, we would have had to leave on friday.. so to drive 9 hrs for just 1 day… were just getting too old for that!

So… my goals… from here until the end of the year… is to at least get my food intake posted everyday!! No matter what happens during the day.. take time to post my food and calorie intake. I've got the exercise part down.. ha.. now just need to get the food part down better!

and… I will be starting another thread for the year 2026!! I'm not going anywhere!! Missed you al!l😍

@mytime6630 Good to see you post, Joan! You've been missed. Don't worry about making lists and all that, just post whatever & whenever you can. Logging food is the most important thing, at least for me, to keep under control. Glad you will be having JFT for 2026 too, I'm looking forward to continuing on!

Recap W 12/3 ~ Apparently we are in a snowy pattern, beautiful fat flakes occasionally floating down.

    • Min. 5000 steps 😁 / OT exercises 🤨 only 2x / PT exercises 😑 out of time in afternoon, out of energy in evening
    • Make hamburger-cabbage-carrots hotdish for supper (use up cabbage) / healthy snacks 😀 none / limit sweets 😊 1 oz peanut M&Ms / 80 oz water ~ 64 / log all food / net calories zero 😀 yep
    • House cleaning (finish up in dining room) ~ yay! downstairs done, except few things in kitchen & powder room / relocate 1 area table of plants for Xmas tree / dig out tree box for hubby to bring up from basement & set up 💖 thank you hubby / top up bird feeders in anticipation of bitter cold forecast for tomorrow / wash dishes / rehearse music (maybe repetition will help me get my part) / read / digital declutter / other? Called Mom & learned that Dad couldn't wait for my eldest brother to show up in a few minutes so Dad started to shovel front steps & fell… hurts enough that brother had to pick up more Tylenol for him. Of course, won't see doctor. 💗
    • NP appt (phone) 2:30 / Amazing Race 8:30 😁

JFT R 12/4 ~ Extremely cold, don't think high temp today got above mid-teens and wind chill was negative. Good thing hubby and I didn't have anywhere to be. Even doggo was feeling it when we let her into the fenced backyard. She didn't stay out for long.

    • OT exercises / treadmill ~ walked 2.53 miles 😁
    • Make love soup for supper / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Launder sheets, blankets, towels / rehearse music / water houseplants / put away clean dishes / start decorating / read / digital decluttering / other?

WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!

Wrote a long post, then lost it.

    Gist:

Did well on my goals yesterday except that I took a long nap instead of wrapping gifts. Now I'm a bit behind.

I'm down 4 pounds in 2 weeks by eating smaller portions and drinking fewer adult beverages.

I may get the 2 doodles now that the guy decided to waive the fee. We meet & greet with our dogs and his Sunday afternoon. I'm nervously excited.

Should go visit mom after the sponsor gig at the pet store since they are in the same city.

    JFT Friday

    • Get up early enough to shower, do my hair and makeup AND make it to work by 8:00am. ❌ Did everything, but was late.
    • Work a bit
    • Sponsorship / TV interview
    • Visit mom
    • Lunch at home
    • Let dogs out
    • Back to work (maybe)
    • Log food / Stay green
    • Pick up hubby from holiday party (aka "Drunken Luncheon")
    • Home by 4:30 or 5:00
    • WRAP donation gifts so they can be delivered Monday
    • Finish up laundry and put away all of the clean laundry.
    • Change/wash bedding in my room and girls rooms.
    • Bed by 10:00

    JFT Saturday

    • Teach Spin at 8:30
    • More wrapping and organizing
    • Maybe make cookies
    • Log food / Stay green

    • OT exercises 😁 4x / treadmill ~ walked 2.53 miles 😁
    • Make love soup for supper ~ yum / healthy snacks 😀 2 oz almonds (weighed) / limit sweets ~ 4 Hershey minis / 80 oz water 😁 / log all food / net calories zero 😀 yes but I think I'm having DOMS from treadmill workouts
    • Launder sheets, blankets, towels / rehearse music / water houseplants / put away clean dishes / start decorating 😁 as usual, started with my collection of nativities (I have dozens, many small 1-piece but others not) & only got partway through / read / digital decluttering / other? 😁 ta-da!

JFT F 12/5 ~ Not as cold, few snow flurries today. Sticking with the treadmill until I can check out the parking lots surrounding the tech school to see if that's a possibility when not so cold for doggo walks.

    • Treadmill ~ 2.63 miles 😁 getting a bit easier = happy me / OT exercises
    • Leftovers for supper / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Call Mom / rehearse music / more decorating / write out donation checks / read / digital declutter / other?

Embarking on a week of preparation for our dinner party on 13th. It's our Thanksgiving, since we usually travel during regular Thanksgiving. I like to cook for it! (though, to be honest, I complain a lot!!). DH does the turkey and I do most of the sides and other stuff. It's fun when it actually all comes together. Going to be flexible most of this week, allowing tasting during cooking and eating my favorites. But I'll still do my Hour Commitments as needed.

Have already done a lot of house cleaning (you know, the stuff you do before company that you let slide otherwise!) One problem I have is that my hands get so dry and rough. Have to remember to use gloves more this year.

Another interesting thing was how much water I retained during our week of vacation. I had at least 4 lbs of water weight when I got back! I knew it wasn't real, but still scared me. How could it be with all the hiking we did, and in general having big deficits or small overages for all the days. But by Wednesday of this week it had gone back down. I just don't know what those restaurants put in their food, salt-wise! It's crazy.

Hour commitment - After my coffee, I won't eat again until 12 pm.

Hello JFT friends! Happy Saturday! It’s very cold in Wisconsin, so not going for a walk outside today. But I have a mental list of stuff around the house that needs doing, so hopefully I make a dent in that.

Im really tired today. My son finished moving out of where he was living and cleaning it out yesterday so got back in town to our house at about 8:00 pm. My husband and I are early to bed people and my son, T, is a night owl, so he was busy unloading his car, taking a shower and doing laundry at 10:30 last night. Still making noise at about 2:00 a.m. when he finally went to his room. Ugh. He and I will be having a conversation about getting on the same schedule somewhat or he’s going to have a really b!tchy mama every day. 👀 I know the job that he just moved from was night shift so it’ll take some time, but he can at least not do laundry and stuff at night. Okay…done complaining. Sorry! Bottom line is that I’m happy he’s here safe and sound.

@mytime6630 JOAN! I’ve missed you, friend! I have been thinking about you so much lately, wondering how you & your family are, and if you’d be creating a 2026 JFT thread! I’m sorry to hear about the situation with your son. Boy, is that ever a common thing with spouses or significant others of kids… it really makes our hearts sad, doesn’t it? I’m glad you got to see your grandson in August! I hope it was a nice visit, full of special moments. I agree with @cschmitz110515 … don’t worry about posting goals! Just logging food is helpful…and just hop on and say hi when you can. I go MIA all the time because I get distracted so easily. 👀😉

@pridesabtch 2 more dogs! Oh my! My mother has one large goldendoodle who is about 10 years old and never quite settled down. Are these large doodles or smaller? They’re such happy dogs! I agree with you on the $500 rehoming fee! If you need to get rid of your dog and want it to go to a good home, then check vet references and ask questions about the home…but to ask for $500? I see that all the time and just don’t quite get it… I hope your interview went well!

@more_freggies76 How exciting! We do the same here…husband makes the turkey and I do all the rest, tasting all along the way. But it really is fun for me as well. I had to laugh at ‘cleaning all the things you clean before company that you usually let slide…’. Oh my goodness, was that ever ME the week before Thanksgiving. It was exhausting. And like every year, I asked myself repeatedly why I always do that to myself every year…. 😂 4 lbs of water weight is pretty believable for restaurant food. It must all the salt and oil they use.

    Just for Saturday
    24 hour plan & assess ✔️
Bible plan• Journal / Bullet Journal?
    Water 64 oz
    Activity Rings
    Connect first row of blocks
Amazon shop for project containers for quilting projects
Sewing Room Declutter - pick an area and set timer for 15 minutes.
Clean refrigerator. Wash & prep produce for mini salad bar.

@more_freggies76 Sounds like a wonderful plan for your Thanksgiving meal. Enjoy! I can totally relate to your cleaning comments… that's our house always. But I refuse to decorate for any holiday when the house needs a thorough cleaning, so I know I'll always get around to it… eventually. I'm grateful hubby helps, once I get started. LOL

Recap F 12/5 ~ Not as cold, few snow flurries today. Sticking with the treadmill until I can check out the parking lots surrounding the tech school to see if that's a possibility when not so cold for doggo walks.

    • Treadmill ~ 2.63 miles 😁 getting a bit easier = happy me / OT exercises 😁 4x
    • Leftovers for supper / healthy snacks 😁 skyr, apple, 1 oz almonds (weighed) / limit sweets 😁 none! / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero 😁 yes
    • Call Mom ❤️ Dad still hurting from his fall, still refuses to see doctor… sigh / rehearse music / more decorating ~ all nativities out (at least 25 LOL), some other decorations started / write out donation checks out of time/energy / read / digital declutter / other? online survey for shirt, got out Advent candles (not enough batteries, added to list), minor cleaning 😁 ta-da!

JFT Sat. 12/6 ~ Nice winter day, not too cold, not windy. Hubby cleared driveway, walkway & patio late last night after snow ended, again. Not much snow, just enough to be a nuisance. Today I drove through the nearby tech college to check parking lots & walkways. With the recent snows every day or so, they're not so great to walk on right now. The treadmill it is, because I still need 40.5 miles to complete my annual distance challenge. Hugh sigh. Sad dog.

    • Treadmill (> 2.5 mi) / OT exercises
    • Make navy bean soup for supper (use ham bone from freezer) / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Winter market (indoor) 😁 / Breadsmith 😁
    • Rehearse music / Xmas & snowman decorations / put batteries in lighted wreath & hang when timer s/b started / read / digital decluttering / write out donation checks & prep to mail / other?

@more_freggies76 - I hope you have a great Thanksgiving celebration. I totally understand the "clean before company" effort. Sounds wonderful that your hubby does a big part of the work with you. Putting together a nice meal like that is always alot of work but always worth it.

@PackerFanInGB - I would struggle with the late night noise too. I hope he can adjust his schedule a little so there is no angry mama bear.. :) I hope your temps improve so your walk can continue. This time of year is so hard to be out there walking. Our driveway is already turning to ice which makes walking the poor old dog so hard.

@pridesabtch - You and your hubby are my kind of people with a heart for dogs. I hope he comes around and lets you take them without such a fee. We have a horrible issues locally with People just dumping dogs and cats everywhere . In fact last Sunday I rescued two dogs that nearly got hit. I did actually find the owners but they didn't seem like good people and it broke my heart when the dog ran away from the son and towards me when the son came to get the dog into their car.

The sunday before I rescued a Husky too..

I have always been one to always find strays.(or rather they find me , including a rogue rooster a few years ago) Found three dogs walking up my road earlier this fall , and no one puts collar on their dogs! I had to call the local dog catcher and they took them in . I hope their owners came to get them . They were all very sweet dogs.

My hubby just rolls his eyes because he says no matter where I go, its like I am a magnet for the lost souls.

We got slammed with more snow Friday night unexpectedly which made the driving conditions difficult because it was a white out. I had plans to meet friends in town for a christmas tree lighting. Luckily we aren't too cold temp wise, 30's mostly . I guess this week we are supposed to get into the 40's with a mix of rain , which really just makes a mess. I'd rather it just stayed at freezing temps.

Then Saturday (yeterday) evening was supposed to be another get together with friends for a birthday celebrations for one of the members of our little "horse family/friends group" . To be honest I am not that tuned into the group anyore and its a big group. This time of year it gets to be a but much with all the get togethers. (birthdays, game nights, holidays, bonfires, etc) For this one, I actually don't know this lady very well becuase she is sort of new to the group but initially felt obligated to go. I finally made the decision to sit it out and instead sent my hubby with her gift . Honestly, I was in a not so great mood all day yesterday so being around a bunch of people was not going to do my mental health any good. I needed time alone I guess. I got my workout done and then did some journaling and then watched a sappy Christmas hallmark movie.

Figured today I will just doweekly recap

    The good

    • Did better with tracking food most of the week.
    • Got plenty of steps in because I got on my walking pad at my desk every day last week during my workday
    • Got most of the Chrismas decorations up
    • Did alot of housecleaning on friday since I had the day off
    • Got the old TV taken to good will
    • Leg workout Sat night - only three excercise but atleast it was something

    The Not so Good

    • Was not consistent with my strength workouts. Need to plan out my days better and maybe get up and do my workouts early (even though I really dislike am workouts)
    • Get more studying in . Only got 4 chapters done last week and they were small

So the guy waived the fee to regime the dogs, but my old dog started having issues and hubby got cold feet. Honestly I was nervous about having 4 large dogs also. I’m trying to help him find them a home. I feel awful.

Good morning JFT Peeps! Happy Sunday! It's -5 wind chill factor today and the Packer - Bear game is in town today. Brrrrr…glad I don't have tickets to this one, although I'll bet I could find some cheap tickets today. 🥶😶‍🌫️😁

My son who just moved back slept through the entire day yesterday. I just went and knocked on the door to make sure he's okay since I hadn't seen him since Friday night when I went to bed, and he didn't even realize he slept through Saturday. He was sure today is Saturday. The thing he said that broke my heart was "I must've felt safe enough to really let myself sleep." I know him and my husband (stepdad) are going to butt heads while he is here, but it's those things that pull at this mama's heart. He's had a rough go of it…much of it from choices he made that were definitely not good ones…but things snowball and it becomes hard to see daylight sometimes. I've been there in my younger days, so I have empathy. Anyway, today I am grateful my son has a roof over his head and feels safe, and I'm grateful I'm in a position to help with that.

Sorry, I promise I won't go on and on about it every day. It's just new and fresh and kind of front & center in our life right now.

Today I am baking banana bread (to freeze for Christmas) and maybe some apple crisp if my fingers hold up. I have split skin at the tips of my fingers that gets worse after oncology treatment, so right now I have bandages on 3 of them and am trying to keep them clean and dry. Please know I'm not trying to whine about it because it's minor as far as side effects go but just stating a fact as to why I might not get the baking done today even though it's one of my goals. It's going to make it difficult to sew too, I think, and that pisses me off because I am so close to finishing this Christmas scrap quilt! I just want to go downstairs to my sewing room, turn on the fireplace and Hallmark channel and quilt…

@HappyDonkey75 That would break my heart to have a dog run away from its owner, back to me. I would have probably cried when they left! I would take in every stray dog I see if I could, but my husband is a one-dog-only guy. Actually, so is my dog…she was a rescue from Dallas who someone dumped pregnant… She's very happy in her home with us here in Wisconsin and does not ever want to share anything or fight for anything with another dog again. When I first brought her home, she hid every treat, bone or toy that we gave her behind chairs, under tables, etc. Broke my heart… She doesn't do that anymore! She feel extremely secure now. 🥰❤️ P.S. Sappy Hallmark movies are perfect for those stressful days. I do the same thing…retreat to my sewing room in the basement, turn on the fireplace and turn on Hallmark. I hope things are better for you today.

@pridesabtch Don't feel guilty. You have to consider your older dog's comfort too. We can't save them all, but maybe you still will be able to if you find someone else.

Recap Sat. Hugh sigh. Sad dog.

    • Treadmill (> 2.5 mi) 😁 2.81 mi / OT exercises 😊 3x
    • Make navy bean soup for supper (use ham bone from freezer) 😁 yum / healthy snacks 😀 skyr, 2 oz almonds (weighed) / limit sweets 😐️ 4 Hershey minis… I need to keep myself from candy / 80 oz water 😁 / log all food / net calories zero 😀 pretty darn close!
    • Winter market (indoor) 😁 / Breadsmith 😁
    • Rehearse music / Xmas & snowman decorations ~ got 2+ boxes emptied & out / put batteries in lighted wreath & hang when timer s/b started / read / digital decluttering / write out donation checks & prep to mail / other? several finance tasks 😁 ta-da!

JFT Sunday 12/7 ~ Sunny but very cold & windy. Very glad I'm watching Bears v Packers game on TV and not in stadium. Hubby shoveled the latest 1" of snowfall from last night. At this rate, I'll be on the treadmill the rest of this month instead of walking doggo outside.

    • Church 9:00 😁 got to see TG & AV to catch up after long time
    • Leftovers for supper / healthy snacks / no candy / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Treadmill > 2.5 mi / OT exercises
    • Finish Xmas & snowman decorations 😁 / take 6 decoration boxes back to basement / rehearse music / write donation checks & prep to mail / finalize grocery list for tomorrow / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other?

WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!
