My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5β 5β tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full monthβs account.

06/30 β 189.0 (Trend Weight β 190.5) Itβs been a pretty good week overall although there has been some water retention on occasion (heart condition) that has crept up off & on. I am happy to see 1.6 lbs gone in the past 6 days which really helps my overall numbers. My goal numbers were not adding up due to my math mistake so I have fixed that. My goal remains the same 184.0 at the end of the challenge but that does leave a 5 lb loss needed on the table for July. Iβm not sure why I had my June goal so low. Anyway, I can do it if I put my mind to it! Or Can I? There are definitely some challenges including the Holiday Weekend filled with food, my Sonβs birthday, my Grandsonβs birthday and some upcoming travel. Time to buckle down, if nothing else, at least on EVERY SINGLE day in-between! Life is for the living, so I must confess that I do plan on enjoying those days. No excuses on all others! Iβm also on a weight loss journey! Onward and Forward Soldiers!

CURRENT MONTH:
07/01 β188.8 β (Trend Weight β 190.4) Well I was certainly hoping for a bigger drop than 0.2 but I guess slow progress is still progress. It was a very good dietary day filled with good choices and I worked out on the bike for 30 minutes (2 sessions of 15 minutes). Intentional exercise is something I really need to keep working in. Today is my son that lives at home and my first DGSβs birthdays. We will be going out to dinner out of town tonight. Dinner wonβt be until about 7:30. Iβve been sticking to my guns and carefully choosing what Iβm eating this afternoon. My son is turning 29 and my grandson 19.

Have a nice day everyone!

Short story 180.8 today. Things went south.
Long story.
When I don't sleep, I eat. I didn't sleep well at all for about a week. During that time, my high weight was about 187(JULY 1). obviously some water. Eating doesn't make me feel more rested or more energetic. That's plain now. But when I'm beyond tired, I forget. i need something to remind me. I really think that one day of drinking only water, no coffee or tea helped. It kept me away from the snacks. No waiting around in the kitchen for the coffee to brew. It reminded me there are healthier, easier alternatives. No need to cook. Easy salads or bagged salads. Yogurt.
TThey say when you define the problem clearly, you're halfway to solving it. I'm very bogged down half way.
7 -
Yes, I will start a new challenge at the end of the month.
I am on vacation this week and will not weigh in until next week.
Hope youβre all doing well!8 -
It's just strange how we eat when we're not hungry. I can't understand the reason for it. Biologically it make no sense. I know the feeling, Day before yesterday I recognized it. After having my normal breakfast I went on to four more "snacks". It wasn't a lot of food or even bad food. About midday I recognized it. I switched to drinking water which helped a bit. But that whole day was "off". I can't remember most of what I ate. My friend calls it "mouth eating".
The next day I went back to full blown calorie counting. Everything that went in my mouth was counted and I knew it was accurate. I got a sense of relief knowing I could do that. It took away the fear I had.
And today feels better. I know I have control today.
Be brave, people.

GW 132 to 135Another week without a gain. This is amazing. But obviously I'm not disappointed.
There are many days when I overeat. I always feel like I'm overeating so when Friday weigh in comes I'm pleasantly surprised that I haven't gained. Obviously I still don't know what I'm doing. Inevitably one of these weeks I'll have a gain. Then I'll feel good if I can rein it inβ¦β¦..stop it before it gets out of control.
@frankwbrown stopped it in its tracks. Five years.
@lclark04957 is only .6 pounds from goal. Look at those dates to appreciate the patience that took.

This week Iβm going to assume itβs partly water weight because Iβd have to consume a lot of calories to gain 4 real pounds in one week. So my goal this week is to continue with good food choices and drink more water and see what happens next weigh in. Old me would have freaked out. New and wiser me is moving on.

@lclark04957 I wouldn't worry about a 4 pound weight gain. Most likely it is water. And, if you've been exercising, your muscles will retain water as they are healing.
I have to admit that I drink alcohol more than I should. But, during times that I quit, I could lose 1 pound or more in just one day. In the long term, I lost 30 pounds in three months. At first, it was most likely water weight. But, for me (and I've heard the same from others that drink in excess), we tend to make bad food choices when we're drinking.
@walkintofit That's strange! Let's see if that happens to me when I post this. I may try to copy and paste something to see what happens.
I didn't weigh-in this week. I will weigh-in next week. I don't feel like I've made much progress.

@walkintofit I just copy and pasted my weights and didn't have any problem. When I paste, everything is double-spaced. So, I have to place my cursor at the end of each day and hit "Delete" then "Shift" > "Enter" to single-space.
2 -
@LittleSurferGirl7 When you right click to paste, look for the option just under "paste" that says "paste as plain text". Use that and it will be single spaced. It will not take away any graphics, emoji's, bold, italics, size change or anything else you have used in the lines. I then post the the newly spaced onto a word document (or whatever you use) and I don't have to do it every time. Just at the start of a new total challenge. I hope this helps.
2 -
Thanks @deepwoodslady I should have known that. I do use Word also. That will save a lot of trouble.
Have a nice day!
2 -
when does this start again?
0 -
It will start again August 1st but feel free to jump in right now so you can get credit for all you are doing now (and any losses you may have). It's great to have you here!
4 -
Hi Friends,
Thanks for the tip on copy and paste. I have to always delete all the double spacing.
The challenge will start again on August 1st. I'm afraid I haven't lost a single pound. Sigh. I also have not put in much effort besides walking a lot. I am joining the local gym and that should help motivate me. There is a huge pool there and a sauna, so I'm looking forward to a fresh start August 1st.
