things wrong with the new food diary format, please revert back to the actually usable version

Options

things that are wrong / poorly designed

  1. The "tiled" format is way to large. before, everything could be seen on my screen, and interacted with at a glance. Now, I have to scroll down to add water or finalize my day. And it fills my entire screen.
  2. No Separation between categories, it all blends together. having just a thin gray line as a separator is not enough. it looks / feels cluttered.
  3. before, I could add water just by clicking on the +1 /+2 / +4 / ___ in the water consumption section, Now? I have to scroll down, click edit, THIS brings up the add water section (that was easily available before)I can now click 1 time on a selection, that then ends the edit, then i have to edit again to add more. if i want to add for instance 12 cups of water, thats 3 edits, it went from 3 interactions / clicks to 7 just to do the same thing. (yes i could just add 12 into the custom amount box, but just clicking the +4 three times was easier/simpler)

these are the top 3 that i could think of right off the top of my head..

I know why you did it, this probably "looks" good if viewed on a phone / mobile screen.

BUT, this is a webpage not an app. if we wanted this type of feel / interaction, we would be using the app. it was easier to use the previous format from a desktop / laptop..

do you know why i use myfitnesspal.com? I used to use fitbit.com to log my food etc., it had a similar look/feel/functionality to your old format. BUT they went the same rout you just took with their design philosophy, tiled, bulky, "easier" (theoretically) for mobile viewing. they basically made it into the app experience. then closed the website and just forced us onto their less functional than the website app. thus i found a new site to use, yours, that offered that functionality that i could no longer get from them.

Don't make their mistakes. learn from them.

this is a web page, thus, best interacted with by a computer / laptop/ larger form than phone device, if you want to have an alternate "mobile" viewing version, that's fine, BUT, that should be secondary, not the primary viewing experience. Why? because if we are viewing on a phone, we are most likely going to use the app instead, (the thing already designed for a phone),meaning the appification of the website itself is: 1 wasted effort and 2. alienating to the people who "actually" use the website.

This is BAD design, because it doesn't take into consideration who it is that will primarily be using that design.

That's my ted talk, thanks for listening.

Absolutely agree! New format is horrible!!! Why putting the CALORIES (Remaining = Goal - Food + Exercise) section at the top??? We know what is our GOAL, this is useless and ALL of the people will just scroll down to BREAKFAST section anyway. So you basically created - an annoyance!?

The table should be wider not narrower. It now looks like a bunch of numbers that are difficult to read because the table is also longer so more scrolling is needed and it is not presentable as it was before.

And yes, the choice of grams, kilograms, liters, mililiters (or whatever people are using) is unlogical.

One more thing - my NOTES disappeared too!? Who did this insanity???

I am waiting for years to have an option for SALT instead of SODIUM because for us from EUROPE and the rest of the world the nutrition facts table on each product shows SALT not SODIUM. I know sodium is 40% of salt but why would anyone from Europe or other regions calculate that for each product??? We simply put SALT values (because it is already written on the product) and that creates confusion for many users, as well as for MFP. Instead, not that you didn't offer SALT option for other 7.7 billion people - but you created a narrow long messy table where nothing clearly pops out!? That's insanity. Wouldn't it be normal to have all the basic numbers clearly visible at the bottom of the table??? Just use a different color or different background so that we can clearly see the bottom line of TOTAL numbers. It's that easy!

And another super important thing - believe it or not there are millions of people who use browser extensions to turn the white glaring websites into dark ones to protect their EYES. People care for their vision, unlike you MFP who never cared to offer dark version of your website for us, even in 2025. Truly unbelievable!!!

I am really mad about what you have done. At least give us option to use OLD format if you are not capable to make sensible changes.

    Booo!

P.S. If anyone knows another similar website please let me know, I am willing to migrate if they have a normal and presentable table.
