Happy Weekend!! This next week's challenge is a 7 Day Video Walking to Music Challenge. I've selected 7 videos, one for each day, but you're welcome to do an extra one per day, as long as you share your video with the team. Quick way to get in a mile or 2000 steps in most cases…hope you enjoy them. Clear yourself a little bit of space in which to move…don't trip over the pets! This should be fun!

After the first two, I've stepped it up to 5000 steps, but in each of them, there's a point where they inform you 2000 steps are done and if you need to stop you can…please remember to stretch before and after and if you can't follow all of the steps, just keep walking or doing side-to-sides…just keep moving and you get the same benefit. Have fun!

    Doing walking videos inside is a great way to beat the heat of summer (if you are in the northern hemisphere)! 🌞

    I’ve never done these but it looks promising. I was wondering what type of activity you log it as? I have a Garmin, will it pick it up the steps?

    I always start my watch on indoor walk and nearly all of the movements have arms included to keep the heart rate up, so it will catch your steps. There is supposed to be a dance category, but I haven't found it, yet. @frankwbrown (our resident Garmin expert), can you please advise where the dance category is found in order to set your watch as you do a dance/walking video? OR was dance just a new challenge category…perhaps I'm confusing it with an activity setting?

    Have fun! I've never had a bad result with using INDOOR WALKING for the activity setting…

    Got up early y'all…and already did my Sunday walk…got over 3k steps so far in my day…all before 7:15am! Feels amazing! Loved the pace of it, but in the beginning took me a second to get used to it and had to balance myself a little. Certainly felt the heart pumping! Go Jessi, Go Jessi, Go Jessi!

    Hope you have a wonderful and active day!

    @jessicakrall8

    Not all Garmin watches have the Dance Fitness available. The Lily 2 is one that does. My Fenix watch is one that does not.

    So, to record a "Dance Fitness" activity if you don't see "Dance Fitness" in your list of activities, do the following:

    • record your dance activity as a "Cardio" activity
    • in Garmin Connect, pull up that activity and change the activity type from "Cardio" to "Dance Fitness"
    • You can access Activity Type by clicking on the dropdown immediately above and to the left of your activity name
    • "Dance Fitness" is listed under the "Gym and Fitness Equipment" category
    • It's three lines above "Cardio" which is in the same category
    • You'll want to change the activity name while you're at it

    Now, dance the night away!

    Thanks @jessicakrall8 & @frankwbrown I went with indoor walk today and will use Dance Fitness (I have a Lily 2) tomorrow to see what the stats look like. There was a point where I scaled back on the arms a bit but kept my feet moving🙂

    Hi there! I am late to the party but will be playing this week. I did get steps in yesterday on the tradmill. I did a 3.25 brisk walk/jog on a treadmill and got my steps well over my 10,000 step goal.

    I did an outdoor walk with my husband this morning before thingsd got hot, and will tackle the indoor videos later!

    I, too, use a Garmin watch. It counts steps for me when I do indoor videos like this. It's not one that includes Dance Fitness, so I will just use Cardio.

    @p8m6bwghh9 and @jessicakrall8 - If you want to connect on Garmin, I am there, listed as AustinRuadhain.

    Good music with the video today! She made it feel like dancing at times! 💃🏼

    I didn't do that video, instead I took a hike. I had to take my car for service about an hour away, and there's two other things in that area:

    1. an REI store, and
    2. Brushy Peak Regional Preserve.

    So, I did some shopping at REI (using some of my rebate credit) while my car was worked on. Then I hit the trails at Brushy Peak.

    I hiked 3.37 miles with 1,099 ft of elevation change. It took me two hours. I actually hiked another 1.33 miles, descending back down to my car, but I did that as a walk activity, because I'm always trying for the Walk Streak badge (walk 1+ mile in a single activity every day for 30 consecutive days).
    Here's a view at about halfway through my hike (near the top), and an elevation chart below:

    I liked the music in today’s video too, reminded me of my late teens 🙂

    I loved the music today too…got up extra early to have time for it…didn't get all the way through, but about 2/3s of the way…got over 3k steps, but had to wrap up a little early to get in to the office for a report I needed to start and an early meeting. Had a really nice day today…hope you did too…at least we all had a great start to the day, right?!

    Came home and cooked dinner…love coming home, doing something simple and relaxing with Betty…the older I get, the more I appreciate peace and quiet. It's just priceless.

    Enjoy your Wednesday!

    I liked this one too, but had to run it back and do a little more…think I got in nearly 3k steps…didn't have time to do it this morning…makes a big difference, so I got busy as soon as I hit the door, KNOWING that I'm tired and if I didn't, I'd likely talk myself out of it.

    Getting ready to eat a light dinner (grilled chicken on lettuce). Hope you had a great day…I got a few things done, but had to deal with one person who is full of drama, so it was a challenge to just keep things on task. Gotta get a lot more done tomorrow.

    Have a wonderful Friday Eve tomorrow…and the Thursday video looks awesome…can't wait!

    @jessicakrall8 you picked some great options for this challenge! I preview for the next day so I know what to expect and I’m a little nervous for the longer videos 😬

    @p8m6bwghh9 remember it will tell you when you’ve finished 2k steps and it always has the timer and step count on screen so you can decide when to stop. I am looking at it as a personal challenge to see if I can do it!! Join me!

    So, I applaud all the dancing/walking/cardio to music going on this week, but I've got a different agenda. (I do listen to music during my swimming, biking and walking though)

    I'm pursuing hiking and biking badges this month, among others, so here's my exercise for today:

    • 🧘‍♂️yoga: 25 min;
    • 🏋️‍♂️strength: 10 min;
    • 🤽‍♂️aquafit: 37 min;
    • 🏊‍♂️swim: 275 yds / 7 min; (my snorkle strap came loose, so had to cut short my swim time)
    • 🚴‍♂️bike: 16.1 mi / 108 min; (trying for 100km over 7 days' time)
    • 🚶‍♂️walk: 1 mi / 20 min

    Completed today’s video, pretty good one. I found myself distracted enough by the music, his chatter, and the changing steps that it made the time go by pretty quickly.

    @frankwbrown I am always inspired by both the variety and amount of activity you consistently participate in!

    Didn't have time to post yesterday as I had to get in to work early, but I did get up early yesterday and did part of the video…couldn't do the whole thing, but got over a mile in…when I have time, I really like starting my day with a walk, but sometimes I just can't get everything done before work…by the time I got home yesterday and put away my groceries, I was exhausted…did my strength exercises and laid down and I was OUT! LOL Feel asleep during the news. I should have known by lying down in front of the fan, I'd fall right to sleep. Yesterday was crazy busy at work. Got a LOT accomplished though, so I'm happy about that.

    This morning, I did the video and then some, in order to do the walking challenge on Garmin for Walking weekend…a little over three miles in a little over an hour. Very proud that I was able to do because towards the end of the 2nd mile, I really wanted to quit, but I pressed on and "got er done"! My walking progress in June and July so far has been amazing. I'm really proud of it, when I think of where I was six months ago after making stupid mistakes and visiting the "Mickey Donalds"…won't do that again.

    I've been happy with this week's challenge too…it's been a good one for just about everyone who participated, at least from the comments I've been reading.

    Anyone have a suggestion for next week's challenge…anything you need extra attention on or just something you've been wanting to do…I'm not sure yet what to schedule…perhaps some self-care? Let me know…we could also do something relaxing like a bingo. I have lots of those nutrition, activity or self-care ones. GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS, PLEASE!

    Will be watching for your comments and will announce late this afternoon.
