Hi everyone, I’m Jenn!
I’m 47 and live in Texas, where I work as an IT Director for a university. It’s a pretty high-stress job, and I also have ADHD, so finding balance with my health and routine has always been a bit of a challenge.
I’m back on MyFitnessPal to focus on me again — though my husband is also on his own fitness journey right now, so we’re supporting each other along the way. I’ve done this before about nine years ago and had great success, but life threw me a curveball after a breakup and job loss, and the weight crept back on. This time, I’m taking it slow and trying to build habits that actually fit my life long-term.
I'm currently at my highest ever, 284. I refuse to see 300 and cannot believe how close I am. 5'5" and hovering around 2x and 22w. I haven't yet started on my fitness journey, but am mentally preparing to get there. I love weight lifting, cardio not so much.
Right now, I’m figuring out how to hit my protein and fiber goals (it’s honestly harder than I expected!), but I’m hopeful I’ll get the hang of it soon. My health overall is good, just working on lowering slightly high blood pressure and LDL cholesterol before it ever reaches the medication stage. I also live in Texas, so exercising in the heat is its own kind of battle.
Next up for me is a sleep apnea study, just to make sure I’m getting quality rest as I make these changes.
I’m really glad to be here, ready to start fresh, learn from others, and share what works along the way.
If you’re also starting over, have ADHD, or just know the struggle of trying to stay consistent when life gets hectic feel free to add me. We can cheer each other on! 💪🌸

@404ErrorJenn Hey! Welcome! I can totally relate to your struggle. I'm also named Jenn, I have ADHD, and have 100+ lbs to lose!
I have been a member of this site for a long time, but haven't been active in a long time, I'm starting back after a long time away. It's a struggle for me to meet my daily calorie goals and I've been working on my relationship with food and exercise for years now. I feel like this time I can finally fully commit to it without all of the nonsense and restrict-and-then-binge cycles, and do it in a healthy way. I have fallen in love with staying active (love strength training but suck at cardio) and with that I want to eat better and improve my health.
We got this! 🤛💪

Hi, both Jenns!
I'm not a Jenn, though we have a couple of Ns in common. 😉 (I'm Ann.)
I'm retired now, but was also in management of IT at a university, plus also 5'5" (though probably shrinking, since I'm older). I was size 20, but lost weight with MFP a few years back - normalizing my blood pressure and blood lipids by doing so, avoiding medication, too. I've been through multiple sleep studies, but unfortunately am one of the people who has sleep apnea even when a healthy weight, but treating it helped. For some people, losing weight ends their sleep apnea.
There are lots of potential benefits. In my experience, results are achievable. For me, they were more achievable than I expected once I got serious and committed to the process; and the benefits have exceeded expectations, too. I'm in year 9+ of maintaining a healthy weight, after around 30 previous years of overweight/obesity.
@404ErrorJenn, I had to post because your user name made me laugh. That was the basis of the easiest Halloween costume I ever made (last minute for a party), and also coincidentally when I became a member at a brewpub, I got assigned mug/member number 404 so it was easy to remember. Just for fun, here's the Halloween t-shirt, since it's that time of year:
I wish you both success with your goals: If your experience is like mine, the quality of life improvement is more than worth the effort it takes to accomplish, with a sensible plan.
Best wishes!

Awesome costume, I have done that one before, but maybe I'll pull that off this year since I haven't done it at this current job :) Thank you for the motivating message. I'm in the right state of mind to do this right now and have been really solid through this week. My biggest change is eating throughout the day. I used to be a coffee in the morning and then pushing through late afternoon to shove in all food at the end of the day. 4lbs down this week (which will not be typical I know lol).

Hi Jenn,
My name is Jodie. I am 48 and from Texas as well. I am a sociologist at one of the local prisons. I currently weigh 312, am 5'9" and am a size 22. My husband is working with me on this journey as well.
I have always been big. I am taking a different perspective on this journey. The fact is that I feel better when I eat well and exercise. I have decided to make that the focus and the long-term goal will be weight loss. I have lost 16 pounds since 10/20 using this perspective. I know that it won't stay that way forever but it felt great to start that way.
I have a great recipe for overnight oats that has 22 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber (the fiber number might be a little off) and 333 calories. If you would like the recipe let me.
Good luck on your journey.
