Good Morning, Everyone,
This am, when I let Rose out, I ended up with one goldendoodle and a Labradoodle in my backyard. I found out they were my neighbor's dog, and they came in under the fence. Rose was not happy that I had treats for them. They were called home and left before I could give them one.
I cannot wait until it warms up. It will be 73 degrees today, instead of a high in the 40s. Yay!
Lisa, I agree with that 25-year-old maturity snapping in. Julia is so much better at telling me the truth and how she feels.
Sherri, I have been battling sciatica for 25 years. Then I ruptured my disk to add insult to injury. With PT, I did well. I still have to do those exercises. Machka says that the chair we use can aggravate it. So we need a good supportive chair. I also take muscle relaxers when it flares up.
Rose is snoring, so I am going to read now. Talk later.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Lanette—I’m with Mo and Machka. If I’m not expecting you, you can knock all day. I won’t answer the door. Around here, the solicitors all “Ring” the same way, so I know it’s one of them. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but it’s always the same routine. Ring the bell, followed by knocks. I rarely sign for packages, and we have cameras all over the place. I can check before getting out of my chair.
Count me out of the tuna casserole exchange. It’s not my thing.
Rita—I hope you find some solutions to your “ho-hum-ness.”Sherry—I use ChatGPT sometimes. I often find it lying to me too. My friend uses it for recipes.
The feet are just OK after the cortisone shot last week. I suspect I’ll get another one when I go back for my follow up. I want this gone because I want to start running again.I ordered new hiking shoes. They should arrive soon. There’s a good one tomorrow, but I suspect I’ll be missing it. I'm not committing.
So far, the job is the same. So I’m not going to stress about it until I need to. The CEO (my colleague for the past 11 years) stepped in to clarify our vacation policy yesterday, so I don’t have to worry about that for now.
As for travel, we are still working on booking our trip for the spring. Long story for why it’s taking forever (has to do with a voucher and the mister’s broken leg), but I think we are finally going to get the dates finalized this week. I’m excited about some of it(orangutan viewing river cruise); not so much for part of it.Anyway, off to do my weight workout. Upper body today. Then a slow walk.
You all have a great day!Tina in CA

Tracey - thank you for the back story on how MIL's daughter came to live at the house, and I wondered if FIL came into the picture at any point. Now we know. How old is MIL? I think you posted that a while back but it didn't stick in my brain. I have heard of drunks that come pounding on people's doors in the middle of the night and it sometimes doesn't end well for them, so the guy that showed up at your house was lucky that you were able to arrange a ride for him. Do the daughter and granddaughter know the house is going up for sale?
I know you are getting worn down from all of this - in a way it's probably good you can go to work and just deal with your job and get your mind on something else for a while. So grateful Kaitlyn and Brodey are willing to share the load.
Mo - such great to hear that your DH loves his new job, and your new interim job will be working out nicely as well. Excited that you now have the certifications to look for employment in the windy city. Your little charges in the NICU will miss you.
Rori - A trip to Casablanca sounds thrilling. Be sure to taste all the food for me, lol. It has probably changed since Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall made it famous. Play it again, Sam. Can't wait to hear what all you saw and did while you were there.😉 Bet you had fun in the press box, what a neat opportunity to hang with interesting people and see how all of that works.
Machka - thank you for that Fahrenheit/Celsius conversion table, super idea. Wow, looks like winter weather just doesn't want to leave your area. Stay safe.
Sherry in Memphis and Stingray - welcome. As Lisa said, we talk about nearly everything in this group with a couple exceptions. Many of us have been together here for years so we're like sorority sisters I guess. 😁 And we always look forward to newbies joining us.
Flea - that meal looked delicious and I would have dug right in. Did you see the links I posted about making a quick bread from pink lentils? I'm going to try it. Also, as I mentioned earlier, my new favorite is 1/2 cup quinoa and 1/4 cup pink lentils in the rice cooker, and I usually add 1/4 cup of dehydrated veggies. A bit of salt. 1 1/2 cups water. Makes 3 or 4 servings for me and I usually eat it with a bean salad. The best part is easy clean-up. No big pots to scrub. 😁I still try to eat a meat protein of some type for supper.

Campground has been really quiet lately. I like it! Day side too- enjoying the quiet. My son has been calling every day and sounds great. He is now talking about renting a house near my DOD and having us move in with him. Not sure how I feel about that but do need to think about moving out of the RV. I love living at the park, just getting itchy feet I think!
Went to therapy last week right after dropping Lucy off to be spayed. We talked about my depression but overall I’m actually better than last year. I think I’m just busier than normal and feel bad when I don’t post every day.
Saw this last night. Any one else see the Aura Borealis? It was awesome. Never saw that before!

Got one of the big screens replaced - they're 4 ft x 6 ft, so they take a little doing. Got it up in the window in my exercise room, after a bit of a struggle and beating on things with large screwdrivers (long story). Relaxing and eating lunch now, and just got chicken out to thaw for dinner.
Regarding the tuna casserole - Corey won't eat it, so I seldom make it unless I'm feeling nostalgic, and then I portion it out and refrigerate or freeze for three more meals for me. So I have to be feeling REALLY nostalgic. I will say, if I don't really want to cook dinner, all I have to say is "I could make tuna casserole," and he will be happy to choose and cook something different for dinner. 👀😂🥰
My recipe's super easy, but LOADED with sodium - one can of tuna, one can of cream of mushroom soup, one drained can of sliced mushrooms, one cup of elbow macaroni, one cup of mozzarella cheese. Cook elbow mac halfway and drain it, stir everything together and top with the mozzarella. 350 for 30 minutes. Honestly, it's only about 300 calories for a quarter of it, and it's a good amount of protein. When I'm feeling fancy, I use fresh mushrooms instead of canned ones, sauteed in wine, and add a small can of sliced black olives. I might make it once a year, if that. Very much from my early married life with my first husband, and a good budget meal. Comfort meal for me.
Speaking of which - Cor's brother, Patrick, is coming over for Thanksgiving, and we've settled on lasagna and garlic bread for dinner. We've got everything for it except some lasagna noodles, and I'll get those the next time I'm willing to walk into a store.
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
I did see that! I've added it to my Christmas break project list. I'm also going to try the lentil/quinoa dish. Sounds yummy.

I've washed my hair and chosen my outfit for tomorrow. Nothing fancy, just black and white. I'm a bit worried about how my knee will cope and the return journey approaching the rush hour, but I will take my stick and try to get away early.
It will be nice to see them over lunch. If I have time I will have a cup of tea afterwards, but I want to get away not long after 4 pm.
John is going to make his chicken stew, so I can have as much as I feel hungry for in the evening.
A bit apprehensive, but not too much. I know they are all at the theatre tonight.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

We're about 2 weeks away from summer down here. We should be having nice weather. But not this year.
Regarding sciatica, think about the chairs you use, including your seat in your car. They all have the potential to cause problems.

Speaking of washing hair, why does it seem like a chore for me to wash my hair? I was late to work by 2 minutes, because I waited till the last minute to wash my hair. I was able to blow-dry and curl with the curling Iron in no time. The tangles hurt, but that was it. I sprayed a detangler, combed out the tangles, and then blow-dried. Everything seems like a chore, except writing and painting. Lastly, I am tired of going to doctor appointments. I missed my mom because I forgot to log into her MyChart. DH was mad at me for not making Julia's appointments for the eye doctor, dentist, and so forth. I told him she can do it herself. My job is exhausting, and I need to relax before returning, so I can be fully present for my patients. DH doesn't realize how draining it could be. One of our patients was sent back to the mom by the grandma, who has custody. Mom just got out of rehab, and now they don't know where she is and has not made it to any appointments. There is a lot of crap to deal with in my mind. Anyway, I will wash my hair tomorrow and dye it a black cherry color. Maybe that will raise my spirits. I'd better apologize to my mom and doctor and reschedule. As for DH, I will leave him to his work bliss and not think about his criticisms. Sorry for the rant and sorry for the duplicate post. I don't know what was with that.
Kylia, I hope your head feels better soon. It doesn't sound good. You may need to take a sick day to recover.
Heather, I share your anxieties. I have to think my way through a situation before I do it. I even say to myself, "I can do this."
Allie, I wish I could be there for you. What you are experiencing is a lot, and it can be scary. It sounds like you have always been there for everyone. Now, you need some TLC.
Carol, hugs to you, and I hope you have someone you can trust to help you through the legal aspects of the estate process.
I don't feel so lonely when I type to you all. I love you all.
XO,
Mo

I’m also prone to putting things down and forgetting where I left them. Not a new thing, always was like that 😂! DH reckons that aliens have installed intermittent memory wipers in several of our doorways, and halfway up the stairs,as we sometimes get to the top or bottom of the stairs and forget why we’re there.
The rain is back with a vengeance this evening. It was a beautiful morning, so laundry went out. We got it in before the rain swept in 😜 We still have reasonably warm temperatures, as the winds are from the south. (Low teens!) We don’t bother with decimal Celsius temperatures in UK or Ireland.🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Worked on my Christmas list. Put down the things I wanted for thebathroom
Sunday I did the Firm Express Cardio DVD and then Beginners Yoga DVA. Taking Ganon for a walk just about every day. Forgot to feed him breakfast this past Sunday but he’ll be OK
Working on Raggedy Andy at ceramics. The gal who used to run it(actually, I thought she was a good resource since she has her own ceramic business. They don’t have much poured for you to pick to do, you have to buy your bisque elsewhere. Seems people are going to this gal lately The biggest problem with her is that she isn’t fast at all. Like over a year ago I asked for a few things, I had to buy one of them in FL since I needed it and I had asked for it months before. But she is a really nice gal, very knowledgeable
Went for my annual wellness visit to the MD on Tues. Last week I went to BK, started the prep, left to get my blood drawn, then back to BK to finish the prep. They really didn’t have a problem with me doing that. Anyway..my total cholesterol is 144, glucose is 82. That’s about all medicare will pay for. Was at the appt for 15minutes. I think this is more of a “so you’re alive, Medicare will continue to pay” sort of thing.
Was really cold Monday and J&C were talking about a house. Not that they’ve seen it, only seen it online. I suspect perhaps J felt how cold your car is if it’s not in a garage. I remember when I had to leave my car out due to the recall, it wasn’t pretty. I did suggest that during the winter, perhaps Vince can put his Outlook where J has been parking and she can use the garage. If he needs to get his Genesis out, he can just move his car. We shall see what happens.
Bowling this past Monday. They always have a celebration for the veterans. Two guys came in some sort of uniform because after this acknowledgment, they were going to a funeral where they were going to be an honor guard for the deceased person
You know, in some ways it’s funny. Yesterday I made cajun jambalaya and today I made cajun chicken orzo. J says “didn’t we have cajun yesterday”? Yet, I know she likes coming home from work and just having to open the lid of the pot and see what we’re having.
Tracey - <shaking my head and sending you hugs>
Melanie – I store some things downstairs, too. What I do is put it at the top of the stairs then as we go down we take one or two things and leave them outside the door to the “pantry”
Lanette – he needs to do some minor repairs to the deck (like fixing one of the boards). Don’t know what animal is making this hole. It made one, I filled it in with this expanding stuff, and it made another one right above it! They had to put supports at the steps –ADA rules – every 7 steps has to have a support. It wasn’t that way when the deck was originally built. But it did pass inspection, so I’m glad of that. Just hope whatever made that hole in our pergola doesn’t do it in the support. Guess time will tell. Oh, I hear ya about the price of food when you go out. $53 for 2 pizzas! I almost fell over. Thank goodness I wasn’t paying for it. You can buy it at the store for about $20 and the electricity to bake it isn’t that much. Oh, how I remember tuna noodle casserole. Unfortunately, Vince won’t eat the peas and C told me lately he’s not been into tuna. My loss
J helped put out the “fence”, the controllers, the arch for the snowball fight and the stand for santa and the reindeer. Today Vince did work documenting and putting out some of the extension cords then checking the controllers. Seems he needed a new ethernet cable but fortunately he had one. He wants to order another spare from Light-O-Rama
barbie – how old is Annie? We’re thinking that Fred is in his “terrible twos”, he’s getting into EVERYTHING. Heaven forbid you leave the pantry door even cracked a tiny bit. He’s in it, getting into all the food. Right before Halloween we found a bag of candy on the bedroom floor courtesy of Fred. A bag of croutons that he’d chewed thru, some treats J had out that he ate, onions all over, and the list goes on…..
Lanette – this may be overkill but I know that every Halloween while I’m giving out the candy, Vince is sitting in his office with a gun by his side. I remember one year shortly after we moved into our first house, these kids came to the door. At the time we had a 120lb sheepdog. I held onto the dog while I answered the door. The kids took one look at the door then told me I can call the police fort hem. Little did they know that that dog would have licked them to death...lol
Lately I’ve been drinking pickle juice for cramps in my legs. We shall see how it works out. Well...I get the pickle juice from BK. We’d just throw it out, anyway.
Made sweet potato muffins for Thanksgiving. Boy, it’s in two weeks
Allie – so sorry about Doris but it sounds like she’ll do well at the assisted living place when she gets there
Lanette and Margaret – I think I posted this before, but Vince would absolutely KILL me if I ever posted something like “on our way to Florida” or “life in Florida is good” or “having dinner with my love” Too muchlike telling people that we’re not home so it’s ok to rob us.
Sherry – welcome
Lisa and everyone else in the military...thank you for your service
Mo – you made me smile – “shooting poo”...lol
Had to stop at Sam’s today because we needed tomatoes. Saw this shampoo that was on sale, so I decided to give it a try. Also, J was talking to me about buying lettuce there so I did. Really, I don’t like it because it takes up too much room in the refrigerator. Came home and took Ganon for a walk. He was terrible. I practically had to drag him down the street! Not sure what’s going on with him lately
Terri – I never thought of those aliens! Gotta remember that (if they don’t get me first, that is)
Had CVS take a passport photo for me. When I tried to upload it, it said it couldn't do it. Maybe because I took a pic with my camera of their photo. So after exercise tomorrow I'm going to stop there and have them transfer the pic to a thumbdrive.
Need to clean the pan from the muffins then get to bed. Planning a spinning workout for tomorrow

I think my middle son enjoyed his "ramen making kit" I sent him for his birthday on 11th. Hard to know what to buy him, as if there's anything he wishes they just order from Amazon.🙃😁

Lanette - I don’t look at the points behind the temp.
My MIL is 80, she’ll be 81 on Dec 2.
The NB people know that they need to leave and that she is not coming back.
Of course, it’s our fault she’s not coming back, it’s hard to see your own fault in anything I guess. 🙄The granddaughter called again tonight, she wanted to know what to do with her grandmother’s clothes. She told them to pack them all up and give them to a friend. Most of them are too big anyway. I think she enjoyed shopping and wants to do more of it. 😂
Rita - I saw the Aurora Borealis last night too. Supposed to be able to tonight too but it’s cloudy here.
I’m glad you’re doing better.Back to work today, I’m so exhausted, I think my bug hasn’t left yet.
Off to bed,

I wash my hair during my showers in the mornings - one of the first things I do on the mornings when I work. Then I spritz the front with hairspray and blow-dry that part to hold it in place, so it doesn't fall in my eyes. The rest dries naturally into a great floofy mass with several ringlets here and there. The more humid it gets, the more floofy the mass gets.
I can't comb it once it is dry because it looks like I've run a balloon all over it - pretty much standing up everywhere.
I know the feeling where everything feels like a chore. Sorry you're going through that.

But @exermom … you say those things here, on a very public easy to access forum.
With the info you've provided and using Google, I pinpointed your house in a matter of minutes and my skills are definitely not up at an expert level.
What's in the room over the garage? Just wondering why J & C aren't staying up there to give everyone more space.

We didn't get the deep reds here, but Thank God for the His Beautiful Auroras the last two nights!

😀 Annie is two and half years old. I can leave her home without me for a few hours. No matter how long I'm gone, she gets so excited when I come home and and stands on her hind legs and puts her paws on me and sometimes grabs my arm with her mouth. She weighs 50 pounds so she is a lot to deal with. The same actions from a 15 pound dog wouldn't be noticeable. It has been a long time since she tore up anything except her own toys. The last mess she made was grabbing a box of tissues and tearing up the cardboard box and leaving the tissues in a pile on the carpet. She doesn't like to walk in the dark or the rain and prefers walking when I have someone with me which happens most days. She cuddles up next to me in bed at night.
🌻I wash my hair in the shower twice a week, brush it and let it dry by itself.
🌜️ The only person who has knocked on my door in the dark in the 14 years I've been in this house has been the across the street neighbour who brought a box of holiday cookies on Christmas Eve. I have a light on the porch and a window in the door so I can see out even after dark.
😀 The slow cooker is slowly cooking boneless chicken thighs with a sauce made of coconut milk, peanut butter, garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. It will be ready early this afternoon and will be stored in the freezer in glass jars making 8-10 servings for me.
🎄 My neighbour is starting to decorate her tree and living room for Christmas. She keeps the curtains open in her living room and I can see it from my kitchen window. It will be a lovely sight when it is all finished. Last year she left the tree up until the end of January.

@TerriRichardson112 – I’m glad you had a beautiful morning. I think we all just are in a state of distraction so often that we forget.
@grandmallie How was the flavor of the cocoa ? Do you recommend it?
@exermom My Christmas list is : Buy gift cards. Put in cute envelope. Hand them out. If only someone would forget to feed me a meal….would make it easier perhaps! @allie – I am guessing doris is your mom, and you have just moved her into assisted living. I know that My mom, 79yr. is getting close to needing that-but the expense of it…without having insurance to cover costs… wow. I live 13hr away from mom.
@Whidislander – an amazon gift card might work for your middle son. Gotta love school photos! So CUUUUUTE. @Snowflake1968 (Tracey) You MIL – 81yrs. Still living at home? My MIL Is 88yrs. Drives everywhere, goes on cruises – in very good shape mentally and health is good. Hoping she stays that way for a while longer. Her mom lived to be 99yrs. Fingers crossed! No Aurora in Memphis – I think I am too far in the city, but, the online pics were amazing.
Hair washing – I do it a few times a week. More often if I am going into the office. When I am just going to be working from home all day – whats the point? Normally it goes in a pony tail (just past shoulder length curly hair). @machka in Oz – No security cameras here. Thought about it. But nope. Bag pipers record. How cool is that !!!

Morning, ladies…
Woke up from a dream where I was in a knitting competition (been watching "Game of Wool: Britain's Best Knitter" on YouTube), and woke up JUST in time, when I sat down with the needles in hand. Even in my dreams I don't really want to knit. 😂 Stresses me out, and I end up with these snarled, unpretty lumps of sweat and cusswords wrapped in wool. 🧶 Ha!
When I started this post, a furry little someone got fascinated by the moving cursor on the screen, which makes it harder to type than you might think. #LifeWithEgg - not that anyone does hashtags anymore.
Speaking of pictures, thank you all for the lovely aurora pictures. Supposedly it got this far down, or at least to Central Arkansas, but we were already asleep by 10 p.m. Should be seen tonight as well. Thanks for the pictures of the grands, too, Allie and Rebecca.
Machka - I bought cameras, got them all put up, and they ended up just being wildlife cameras, so one by one I took them back down. I've got a gate alarm triggered by anything bigger than a bird, and even when we added in the little house bit of land, I was able to position it so that anything large that is moving toward the house triggers it. We've got dense forest on two sides, and on the third side, a friendly neighbor who has one annoyingly barky Chihuahua of her own and also fosters two to five little barkolators, so the cameras were just unnecessary, in the end.
Hair washing - I wash mine when I shower, and shower every other day, or occasionally just twice a week if I don't get sweaty. I seldom go that long without getting sweaty, though. Much like Machka, I just blowdry the front, to keep it out of my face. Can't stand hair touching my face. Smooth the rest down with a bristle brush and let it dry, and it knocks out the curl and the frizz. Mine is quite short in order to avoid the whole curly frizz thing.
Pleased with myself because the exercising is starting to be a habit, either the rower and yoga or the elliptical and weights. Even got on the elliptical in the middle of a phone call yesterday, as I knew I wouldn't get it done if I didn't. Got a little puffy, but not too bad. Up to 14 minutes on the elliptical and over eight minutes on the rower.
Medical stuff:
Am having to deal with the VA to get my heart prescriptions back to them, after seeing a community cardiologist for more than five years. I'm right on the geographical edge of being eligible for community doctors, and most of the time, it's fine, but they started cracking down on cardiology earlier in the year, and I just stayed with community doctor and paid the Medicare deductible.
As I've started feeling better, I feel like I'm capable of making an hour and a half drive now, so I'll quit squawking and go to the VA cardiologist. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, I really liked my cardio, and he knew me and my history, but such is life. They said something last time about doing a tele-health visit, so I could just drive the half hour to the nearest clinic, but I was so mad I quit listening and told them no.
Time to suck it up and get it done correctly with the VA.
That's all that's on my tiny brain today… hope you're having a lovely and peaceful Thursday,
Lisa in AR
