Astonishing results from my new regime.
Hey all,
Before I say this I will point out that I am not any sort of professional trainer or anything like that (Far from it).
I would like to share something that honestly has had astonishing results for me and my wife.
A little bit of info also before I start… I had Diverticulritis and was given metronidazole (flagyl in the USA) antibiotics. I had a severe reaction to them- this was 1.5 years ago. I have been left with a condition called Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness with oscillopsia (jumping vision). The jumping vision (slow wobble up and down) happens all the time but the PPPD only affects me when I walk and im not dizzy while sitting. I do have lung disease due to an accident at work called Reactive airways disease. I wont bore you with the details.
These conditions caused me to gain a lot of weight and I went up to 246.6 lbs I'm 5 feet 9.
Obviously this has had a severe affect on me- I was informed just over 2 months ago that these conditions are most likely going to be life long now. After this diagnosis I was really feeling like I had just had a massive blow to looking ahead to my future.
Anyway, I woke up one morning and said to myself no more and told my wife "Im not going to sit here and deteriorate any more. I wanted to lose weight and at least get healthy again and that I will just have to deal with the conditions.
I bought a treadmill, 2 weight vests and wrist and ankle weights.
I started off doing 2 x 2.5k walks a day on the treadmill with 10kg on the vest at 5 kph- I then went up to 20kg at 5.8 kph and eventually I went up to what I am at now which is 33kg of weights and with 1.6kg wrist straps on each arm and I now jog for short bursts (i get extrememly dizzy and feel horrendous due to the PPPD) but I try to keep going until I cant bare it anymore then i walk again.
I keep trying to replace the weight I lose with more weights to keep the calorie burn around the same.
I eat 1500 calories per day and eat back 1/4 of the calories burned.
in 8 weeks I have went down to 222.2 lbs and the muscle gain is crazy!
My conditions are the same but I feel 100 times better. my energy levels are better im, Sleeping better and my breathing is better etc.
I honeslty could not recommend getting good weight vests and wrist straps enough. They are very cheap but honestly these are an asonishing aid for the little cost and will last a very long time. I got the 40kg version but each person is different and you can adjust it to suit yourself.
All it takes is to ignore that nagging thought in your head saying take a break today or i cant do this- But you 100% can. If i can do it guys you can do it for sure!
Give it a try guys- It truly has made an astonishing difference to me. when i get a little more confident I will share images. starting weight to finish weight.
All the best
Andy
