Starting My 60-Day Journey: From 96 kg to 85 kg — Let’s Go!
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m new to MyFitnessPal and I’ve just started my 60-day weight loss journey.
My current weight is 96 kg, and my goal is to reach 85 kg in the next 2 months.
I’m starting with intermittent fasting (16:8), along with healthier food choices and daily walking. I’m doing this to become fitter, more energetic, and to set a good example for my kids.
I would really appreciate:
Tips from people who have lost weight with IF
Meal ideas that fit into a busy schedule
Motivation and accountability partners
Any advice on avoiding plateaus
Excited to learn, stay consistent, and share progress here!
Thanks in advance for the support 💪🙂

Hello and welcome!
I admire your goals of being fitter and more energetic, plus a great example for your kids.
Sincerely, I don't want to burst your enthusiasm. I DO want you to succeed at weight loss.
But.
It sounds like you're aiming to lose about 1.4% of your bodyweight every week for the next 8 weeks. That's very extreme. For each kilo per week you want to lose, you need to eat 1100 calories fewer per day (or move that much more, which would be super difficult; or a combination). 11 kilos over around 8 weeks is about 1.375 kilos (3.025 pounds) per week. That means a 1512 calorie deficit on average daily.
You don't say how old or tall you are. If I assume maybe 35 y/o and average height for a man (say 178 cm, 5'10"), without a very physical job but with the daily walks, you might be burning around 2500 calories a day . . . so needing to eat around 1000 on average daily. That is not enough for health. I'm sorry to say that.
Fast loss increases health risks, makes it likely that useful muscle will be lost alongside fat loss, and increases risks that it will just be too hard to keep up long enough to lose all the weight you hope to lose.
The very best tip I can give you is not to treat this as a quick project with an end date, but rather to focus on finding new, permanent, positive habits that will take you to your 85kg goal eventually, but better yet get you there in robust good health, and help you learn and practice the lifestyle that will keep you at a healthy weight long term, ideally forever. That's a different mindset. That would aslo be a great example for your kids. It might take more than 2 months, but I think the calendar is not a weight loss tool.
Sincerely, I want you to succeed. Reaching a healthy weight was a huge quality of life improvement for me (ten years ago now), and staying there is even better. I want that for everyone, you included.
I'm cheering for you to succeed!
(Note for other USA-ians like me: 96 kilos would be 211.2 pounds, 85 kilos would be 187 pounds, so a loss of around 24.2 pounds in about 8 weeks.)
