weighing steak before or after cooking??
When I go to log steak in ounces (or chicken) is that ounces meant to be raw or cooked? My steak said it was 10 oz and it cooked down to about 6 oz

There are different entries for raw and cooked meat. It depends on how you look up the food in the data base.

weigh everything before. There's too much variation after cooking with water loss. For instance, if you cook a steak rare a good amount of the water stays in it and if you cook a steak well done it dries out a lot so it's gonna show a lot less which will end up showing a lot less calories.
