Tired of being heavy
Hello- My Name is JoAnna, but I generally go by Jo. I have been playing with my Fitness Pal for a couple of weeks now and with 2026 peaking its eye around the corner I need to get more serious about my weight loss journey. I am currently 216 pounds been on many different diets…WW, Jenny Craig, GLP shots I have even tried weight loss programs with my medical benefits. I lose and gain, some of it has to do with maintaining weight loss understanding, some has to do with knee surgery and being scared of going back to running. Or just no motivation. With my life currently I have no motivation, no energy and to top it off I live with my older brother and his wife who is retired and does the majority of cooking and she is a southern cook and her “healthy cooking” isn’t really healthy cooking because she’s still frying chicken or adding butter/grease to food. I have asked if I could cook for myself and I have been told NO because she does the cooking and that all that should be done. I can’t afford to move out, plus with my brother and sister in law being much older than me I try my best to help with heavy items they can’t pick up or move.
I do work 50 plus hours a week, when I get home I am mentally exhausted and I will take my dog for a walk and play time for her.
After all this information what can I do to get myself moving more and basically to have motivation and to try to eat healthier without upsetting my family by not eating what is made.
Sorry so long, please any advice or suggestions would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you 😊

I am so sorry for your struggles. Is there a way you could grilled chicken to bring to work and throw it into a salad? If your brother and SIL are being inflexible, maybe you could eat your meals outside of the home or ask a friend if you could cook at their house? You also can sit down with them and explain that you have real health concerns and need to adhere to certain foods to get healthy. Do you think of of this would work?
