Hello! This is a six-month, weight loss challenge that runs from 12/31/25-07/01/26 (6 months), but please feel free to jump in anytime.

To keep things simple, we can post everything here: intros, initial stats, progress, tips, life experiences, photos, non-scale victories, activity, daily calories, milestones, recipes, shared links - whatever you'd like.

I'll go first. Below are my initial stats with corresponding scale photo, plus initial key measurements (bust, waist, hips and "potbelly" (or panniculus). This is not mandatory in order to be part of this challenge - you can report as much or as little as you want.

Renpho-1767192580468.png 20251231_085633.jpg

GOAL: 140 lbs. or less (Lose 14.2 lbs. or more)

Measurements: 40.0/37.0/39.0/43.0

WK LOSS: 0.0

TL LOSS: 0.0

LBS to GOAL: 14.2

Please go at your own pace. This is mainly a mutual support and accountability forum. I plan to read posts and contribute a post at least once per day. For me, consistency is key.

    About Me:

    My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). In this 6 month challenge I will aim to lose 18.1 pounds. I don’t think I have a shot in H-E-Double hockey sticks to make it (especially in the winter months) but it’s more than a wish so I will call it a goal. Any progress is appreciated. Thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to share your journeys with you. #togetherstronger

    I WILL WEIGH ON WEDNESDAYS BUT ALSO ON THE 1ST AND LAST DAY OF EACH MONTH FOR A FULL MONTH’S ACCOUNT.

    ❄️❄️❄️12/31 –Actual: 181.0 (Trend Weight – 179.9) I'm starting this challenge with a hefty goal that I will likely not make, but if I shoot for Pluto, maybe I'll make the Moon. My actual plan is to lose (avg) 0.1 lbs per day and I've carried that goal to the end of the challenge. Doing the math, it's an 18.1 lb goal. Last challenge my goal was a loss of 22.4 and I lost 14.1. While I didn't make the overall goal, I still feel it was tremendous progress for me and I feel this longer term 6 month challenge is working. Thank you to Carole @Walela617 for posting it. here are a few more names that had joined your end of year challenge and/or your "by new years eve" challenge. Perhaps they will be interested in starting the fresh new year with a fresh new challenge. I love having the longer-term challenges mixed in with the others as I love seeing the data, the patterns, the information layed out before me in such a way that I can really see what is affecting my journey.

    I would love to see the following back rejoining us:

    @SherryRueter

    @Crystal8490

    @melbe159

    @tallymh

    @Holdingfast2Jesus

    @Seniorliving

    @AliciaPeters310

    @MoonMisted

    @KSLatorre

    @osborn475

    @im_nans

    @Steph_135

    @dscmom

    Let's Go! We got this!!!

    Hi, did myfitnesspal years ago, lots of other stuff in meantime. I lose it then gain it. While I know my weight loss begins and ends with me, am hoping a little accountability will help me.

    Currently 244 (5'9"); goal weight for now: 200 pounds. Ideal goal would be around 160, but need to not beat myself up if I don't make it this next year (or next).

    goal by July: 25 pounds.

    Motivated by an upcoming trip to France to visit my son in September 2026. Need to be able to fit in the airplane seat and survive a 9 hour flight! And need to be in shape enough to keep up with him when I get there.

    Welcome, @dahliacats1! I know what you mean - I'm tired of "yo-yoing" too!

    You got a great goal with a special reunion and trip as incentive. 25 lbs. by July seems like a realistic objective.

    Hi Donna @deepwoodslady - that's a great idea! Thank you for sharing the other members' usernames. Hopefully, your tagging them in this board will encourage them to join us!

    Hi, @Piedpiper2!

    WELCOME! Happy New Year to you, too! Wow, We're pretty close in height, weight and measurements. I'm 5'3", ~154 lbs., with waist 37" and hips 40". (Too bad my belly/abdomen is 43"!) I'm also 67 years old. My goal is to weigh 140 or less (to lose ~14 lbs. or more) at the end of six months 07/01/26); so our goals are similar as well.

    Happy first day of the year, everyone! I hope 2026 is good for ALL of you! 🎉🙏🕊️💞

    Posted as link to Ticker Web Address. (Requires leaving MFP.)

    PLEASE NOTE: The reason the starting/current BMI and starting/current weight are superimposed is because they are so close. (I've only lost 0.8 lb. so far.) As weight loss increases, the numbers will grow further apart.

    For now, I've set my goal weight for the weight loss ticker at 134 (lbs.), because as I recall, it was a pretty "slim" weight for me, wayyy back in my 20's! (I might adjust it as I get closer to goal, since I'm like, all "old" now n'that!😉)

    [With special thanks to Donna @deepwoodslady for reminding me about the ticker!]

    Going forward, I will post weekly as both picture and link in case people prefer not to leave MyFitnessPal. If you do leave MFP while within the app, you should be able to return by selecting page back (or left arrow "<" or "⬅️") twice.

    Enjoy your evening,

    💗 Carole

    Hi everyone, Above is in case you'd like to design your own Weight Loss Ticker. If you don't see the first step, "Please select a ruler:", then look for a box that says, "Create Your Own Ticker" and click on it. Please Note: You will need to create a pin number and save it somewhere with the "Ticker Page Address" URL code in order to go back and edit/update your ticker's data; otherwise, you can always create a fresh one and enter your current data.

    Have fun! 🙂

    Two successful days so far! I'm holding off weighing myself until a week is up. I don't like how fixated I can get on the scale.

    I like the nutritional analysis I get on the food I've eaten. I've learned I need to work on protein: even though my goal for protein is a modest 60gm a day, I'm having trouble getting enough. And even though the amount of carbs I can eat in a day seems generous, carbs are in everything and it is very easy to surpass that goal if I'm not careful.

    I've been exploring the site. (I did splurge on the upgrade). they suggested a bunch of recipes and meals for the coming week, and generated a shopping list to go with them. Pretty cool. So going to start trying them out. Some of them, like peach and pistachio tortillas sound a little weird, but I guess I don't know until I've tried it. I'm curious to see how close I get to my nutrition goals when i follow their suggested menu.

    Was curious about intermittent fasting. FB has 3 options you can choose. The beginner one is a 12 hour fast. So you eat breakfast at 7 am, and have to be done eating by 7 pm. Doesn't sound much like fasting to me… I suppose it could be a way to put the brakes on my evening snacking.

    Hi @dahliacats1, I tried the fasting thing - just can't stick with it. IMO, is all about energy (calories) in vs. energy (activity) out, consuming mostly nutritious foods while minimizing processed foods and artificial additives, although of course, whatever works best varies from individual to individual.

    7am for breakfast is too early for me. I possibly could maintain an eating window of 8am-7pm for awhile. Maybe if I reach a stubborn plateau or something. I rarely eat after 7pm anyway; so I could probably do that.

    Best wishes!

    💗 Carole

    Hello! I’d like to join!

    I’m Lori. I’m F 56, 5’11” (although I used to be 6’1” but I’m shrinking). I’m diabetic and need to get my act together.

    Some background: In 2014 I was 323 and lost 90lbs over the next year. My weight went up and down from there until Aug 2018 when I was told I needed a hip replacement. I went from 234 to 260 in 4 months before I had the surgery. After that the weight just went up and up. I hit a high of 345 in August 2022. Since then my weight has dropped due to out of control diabetes.

    I just started seriously watching what I eat on 12/28/25 after all the holiday gatherings were over.
    so far I’ve lost 7.4 lbs.

    I will weigh in weekly on Sundays.

    Starting weight: 283

    Current Weight: 275.6

    Challenge Goal Weight: 235

    Ultimate Goal: 160

    Hello, I saw this in the community and would like to join. I'm 44yo 5'4" and currently weigh 192. The last few years have been hard and I haven't been taking care of myself like I used to. Between caring for my kids and mom (who lost her battle with cancer in April) and then the grief of losing my last living parent I jave been reminded how much my emotions can affect my habits (both good and bad).

    My goal is to post once a week and to lose 20 lbs by July 2026 and be down to 172
