We had a nice one. Lots of time with family and friends. Got away for a night with friends and had a great time. Lots of laughs. We got a pretty significant snow fall last Friday, the 26th. And that snow is still on the ground thanks to the cold weather. New Years was at our usual friend's house and that was fun too. Stayed up late but didn't eat or drink too too much!
Back "at" work today (remote) for one day which is kind of nice! Been digging out my inbox and getting things done. Otherwise pretty low key. I see a lot of people are offline and returning on Monday.
Have still been eating pretty well, given the time of year. Have not been to the gym lately but we are planning to get back soon. It has just been SO COLD and with the snow on the ground the driveway is a pretty solid sheet of ice. Planning to stay in all day today. Saturday afternoon we may head over to see the Housemaid movie. That is based on the book by one of my favorite authors, Freida McFadden. Sunday will be low key. Grocery shopping and some cooking / meal prep.

The Monday after the holidays is the Monday-est Monday to ever Monday. I can feel all the people getting into the office for the first time in weeks, realizing that they forgot to do all the things. I expect a lot of panicked phone calls today.
@Meghan509 Glad you had a nice holiday season! That sounds so nice, even the snow. It has been warm and didn't feel like Christmas at all here. I would like a nice snowstorm. Just one. It would make me feel better and, also, kill all the creepy-crawly things.
I better get a move on with all my stuff before other people start calling in with their stuff.

Yep, I hear you @KateNkognito it is definitely a Monday today! I just finished a call where I "saw" everybody I had not seen in weeks. Back at it!
Yes, I do like the snow and I don't mind it too much especially if I don't have to drive far in it. On Sunday morning we woke up to more snow flurries coming down and a tiny bit more of a coating on top of what we already had. It does look pretty, I give it that. Even though I am totally over my icy driveway!!
We still have our small fake pre lit Christmas tree up in our dining room. We wait until the bitter end to take it down. It is just too cute! Outside we have our snow flake lights still up. They project on to the house. Technically those are not Christmasy so they can stay for a bit!
Hope your day ends up being an easy one. I am remote today and have a dentist appointment at 1pm. On Friday of this week we are planning to go back to the gym. Should be a little warmer by then. Fingers crossed.

Good morning! Traffic this morning was definitely back to its usual volume.
Yesterday was a lot more chill than I expected it to be, but the emails have started already this morning, so here we go! LOL
@Meghan509 We took our tree down this weekend, just because everyone happened to be home all at the same time. It took about 10 minutes to get it taken care of. Next year I want to put up my village and all my snowglobes and everything.
Today is being a good Tuesday, so I am going to go and take advantage of that. Have a lovely rest of the week!

Came back to a few nice Christmas gifts that my colleagues had left for me. Feeling the love. :)
Today the traffic was not too too bad but we are definitely back at it. Lots of people on the road!
Glad today is being a good Tuesday @KateNkognito you made me LOL! Love it. I would say same for me. This whole month should be a little more quieter than usual. That big meeting that I typically plan for the end of January/early February was postponed for this year. So that frees up a lot of time and chaos for me. All good as they say!
Not much else going on here. Planning to weed through a few emails and give the kitchen here a good restocking. I sure didn't miss it while I was away. LOL

Traffic was awful today! SO MANY CARS! At least nobody was being stupid. My commute is sometimes as short as 15 minutes, if I hit all green lights… today was not that day. It was more like 25 minutes.
I have to go to a meeting most of the day, so I should go and practice controlling my facial expressions. Look up "When your coworker can't control their facial expressions" on youtube. That's me. My boss has my sign ready. LOL

Ugh, I hear you about the traffic! Today I decided to try and outsmart Google Maps! We all know how that works out. LOL It was telling me to turn AWAY from the highway and take another route to then get on the highway an exit later. Now why on earth would it tell me that!? I turned TOWARDS the highway and proceeded to sit in a que of cars for a long time before finally getting on the highway and most likely added on an additional ten minutes to my commute. Booo… Epic fail as they say!

Not too bad here again today. I almost feel like I won't have anything to do, after I finish up this next small task I have. How is that possible?! Sigh…

I really can't complain, this week has gone very smoothly. And I feel like I really don't have much on my plate since my big meeting has been pushed to 2027. I am actually pretty slow at the moment and trying to think of things to keep me busy. Who knew!?
We have more rain coming here but I don't mind because I want all the old snow to go away. It is 45 degrees and mixed clouds today. Rain coming tonight and tomorrow and possibly Saturday. Wash it all away…

I saw the FDA updated the food pyramid and I like it. More focus on proteins and healthy fats. Less focus on grains. The big takeaway I saw was how they are trying to not make fat out to be as bad as it was back in the day. I used to have an old coworker who wouldn't eat stuff that was not low fat. Used to drive me nuts. Fats (within reason of course) should not be shamed. Along with protein, it helps us keep satisfied. :) My two cents.

Today has been a day! Everything has been a mess and I have gotten nothing done. At least we are dog-sitting a basset hound, so I have floppy ears to go home to. And tacos.
I made it through my meeting yesterday with no incidents! Super proud of myself! LOL I used to teach half of it and I walk people through the other half on a daily basis. The coworkers that were there are fun, so it wasn't so bad.
@Meghan509 I saw the new FDA pyramid. It looks much better now. I also like the emphasis on whole foods instead of processed. I have been pretty slow lately, too. (aside from today) It is kind of weird. However, I work in the petroleum industry, so it waxes and wanes with the price of oil.

Yep, still slow here for me. Yesterday afternoon I reached out to another colleague who I know is very busy and overwhelmed and I asked her if I could help her out. She was thrilled! Woo hoo!
I am remote today but I do have a few things to get done so that is good. Going to get back to the gym today and dare I say, looking forward to that. LOL
Tonight at 4:45pm I am "interviewing" a new hair dresser. I found her on Facebook and she is located literally right around the corner from my house and has great hours. She also does men's hair cuts so BF will have a new stylist too, if all goes well!
Supposed to rain tonight and for most of the afternoon onwards for Saturday. I am okay with it. I want ALL the old snow washed away so we can start fresh. Today is 43 degrees F and partly sunny. I'll take it. Just looked at the future forecast and it says snow Saturday night in to Sunday for NEXT WEEK, but only a few inches. Fingers crossed that all works out!

Well, I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. We spent SIX HOURS on Saturday getting my husband's phone number ported to a new service. The account was 20 years old, so it didn't have the things it needed to have for security, so we had to talk to person after person until we finally got to someone that knew what was going on. Then it took 5 minutes. NOT how I wanted to spend my Saturday.
On the bright side, I got to drive into work behind my neighbor in his police cruiser and watch people scatter as soon as they saw the decal on the side. It always makes the drive fun when we leave at the same time! LOL

My new hairdresser meet and greet went well! She seems like she will be a keeper. I would love to be able to grow my hair a little longer with a more simple cut and she is on board vs. lots of layers sigh... Made an appointment with her for early February! Fingers crossed!
We had a quiet weekend. Last night was super windy (again) but it has been warmer and sunny which is nice. Doesn't seem like we will get any crazy snow or anything until maybe Monday. That is the MLK holiday but our office is open. At least I am remote. :)

Pretty quiet here but getting some stuff done which is good. Definitely not my typical crazy and stressful January that I had gotten accustomed to!
Just had lunch and was able to get away from my desk for a bit, which is nice. I find that when I don't get away it makes for a tremendously long afternoon. :)
Traffic was busy but moving this morning. Planning to try and get out of here a few minutes ahead of 5pm the next few nights to try and avoid a little bit of the traffic. My boss and some others are traveling for a few days so it is quieter than usual here in the office. Not complaining!

The weather is cloudy and cold today. People are grumpy. I think I am just going to sit in my office, drink tea, and avoid everyone. Good news is that I don't have much to do with the price of oil being so low.

Hope you have a nice easy day today @KateNkognito!! Same thing happening here. Aside from having to call in for service for our coffee machine upstairs. It appears someone had a K Cup explosion and there are grounds all caked around the mechanism. I ran a few cleaning cycles and powered it down but it is still not right. I called service. Fingers crossed!
Rain is coming for us later today and then from tomorrow night on it is going to be much colder. 21 degrees F for a low on Thursday night. Ouch. The good news is it looks like that snow or system I kept hearing about on the news is not going to affect us. Works for me!
Yes, definitely still quiet here which is good. Been dealing with a little drama with my Mom. Seems like once she left the rehab facility in mid December she has proceeded to sit on her rear end and do nothing so now she has very low endurance. Slipped and fell a few times and takes forever to walk downstairs to get lunch/dinner. Sigh… Definitely monitoring the situation but it is frustrating because I know she is a lot at fault. She needs to keep active, even if just walking around, but she won't. UGH.
Don't like to end on a negative note, so let me say that we are almost half way through the work week and then it is the weekend! Woo hoo!

The COLD is coming. Supposed to be less than 20 degrees F over night tonight. BF is dreading it. He is really suffering the cold more as he's lost weight and gotten older. Stinks.
Looks like we will be getting some rain/snow showers this week from Saturday PM in to Sunday AM but not a lot of accumulation which is good. Next week will be chilly. Looking like Saturday, January 24 we may get some snow - four to five inches!? Maybe I shouldn't get in to the habit of checking the ten day forecast as much. Sigh… :) We will see how that pans out.
Not much else going on here. Got my jeans on today which is nice. Been better about drinking my water too. Which means more trips to the ladies room. LOL

Well, I don't want to jinx it, but today is proving why Thursdays are my favorite day. Smooth traffic, not a million things to do. People are chill because the weekend is coming. It is all good!
The weather here is pretty much seasonal. The low Saturday night is supposed to be around 10°F. But still no snow for us. I am sad. I like a good, stay-at-home-and-snuggle-in snowstorm at least once every winter. Maybe we will get a wintery February.
Monday we have off and I have appointments scheduled all day. I think I might need a weekend to recover from my extra day off! LOL

Well, today is going quickly, so far. It has been slow lately, so I am getting to all the odds and ends that pile up when you are busy. I'll take some quiet time after the rush that we had in October and November.
@Meghan509 I am going to pull out my big pot and make some chicken noodle soup this weekend and bake some bread, too. I might even go wild and make a skillet cookie for dessert.
I have a scheduled phone call in a few minutes and then I am pretty much done with my "have tos" for the day.

Hello and Happy Monday!
MLK day today but my office is open. Quieter day at home which is nice because we got a fair amount of snow this past weekend! I can always tell when it is a holiday because 1) no school buses and 2) less cars going up and down our street. We have an elementary school just up the road from us.
On Friday I saw it was going to be flurrying on and off all afternoon on Saturday, so I made the executive decision to get the grocery shopping done on Friday night after work! I am glad I did because Saturday ended up being so messy, we stayed in all day. We were planning to head to the gym mid day on Saturday but as we were getting ready to go, we looked outside and saw it was snowing and accumulating! Inside we stayed. Yesterday we decided to "dig out" mid day - clean off the car, the walkway, and all that fun stuff. There was a little bit of a lull in the snow but then we got more on and off all afternoon and evening! Snow plow was going back and forth on our road all night! Incredible. We definitely got a few inches of snow. I see it on the car. I feel like this one kind of snuck up on us. They really didn't make a big deal out of it on the news until the last minute! Fun, fun, fun. This week will be COLD. Staying put as far as the gym goes for today. Just too cold and messy out there.
Looking forward to making a new soup tonight! It is definitely soup weather! Hope your chicken noodle came out well, @KateNkognito! Sounds yummy. The one I am making is called "Minestra". Sort of like an Italian soup with some pasta and ground beef. It calls for tomato puree, peas, carrots, and diced potatoes and some other stuff. Sounded yummy and ground beef was on sale, so I am making it!

Well, I didn't make soup, but I got some other things done. I went to all my appointments yesterday. I liked everyone except the new GYN. I have shoes older than her and she has a WHOLE lot of belief in herself. I won't be going to her again. She is the first one at this clinic that I have ever actively disliked. They are usually pretty good, so I don't care who I see. Eye doctor said I am old and to use my weaker prescription unless I am driving at night. LOL Chiropractor is proud of my healthy ways. Siding/window guy convinced my husband to do what I want to do with the windows. And then my husband and I got to go out to eat together. It was a good day!
@Meghan509 Sounds like you got a LOT of snow! We are supposed to get a storm through on Friday/Saturday, but they still aren't making predictions on how much. I have all the things we need, just in case.
My work computer is being weird, so our IT guy is going to come and look at it. I might be getting a new one. Wish me luck!

Sounds like you had a nice and productive day off! That's awesome. I made the Minestra soup I mentioned yesterday. Only thing is the pasta absorbed A LOT of the liquid so I will use more veggie broth next time. The recipe didn't say how much broth to use, just to add it so it covers everything. I used four cups plus a cup of water. Next time six cups of broth. All good. Came out very tasty!
Speaking of healthy… My Mom is currently in the hospital with COVID. Earlier in the week last week, she was feeling weak and having trouble walking, tripping and feeling exhausted. Friday afternoon I got the call that they were taking her to the ER. She called me a few hours later to say it was COVID. Fun, fun, fun. Called and spoke to the hospital today since I had not heard anything and she's not answering her cell or the room land line. Got a little worried. Nurse said she is fine. On some oxygen and resting and should be moved to rehab (again) in a few days. Nurse said to call back tonight for another update. I will do that.
Ahhh yes that storm that you guys are getting is coming this way. Stay safe!! It looks like for us, Saturday, Sunday and then in to Monday for us. Right now my weather site is showing over six inches. Oh boy. Like you said, we will be ready too. A Friday evening grocery run will be happening once again! Sheesh.
Today is very cold. A lovely 21 degrees F and sunny. Will be that way today and tomorrow. Thursday will be a little warmer. Hoping we can melt some of the driveway snow before we get more.

@Meghan509 Sorry that your mom is in the hospital. I hope she makes a speedy recovery! Your soup sounds really good. Weather people are confidently saying we are going to get snow, but they haven't released predictions on how much we are supposed to get, yet. I think it is only going to be a few inches, but the wind and the cold are going to be pretty crazy. The high is supposed to be 10 Saturday. OUCH! I told my kids to fill up their gas tanks today, just in case.
My computer did get replaced yesterday. I think I have about everything how it is supposed to be on the new one. So, today I am playing catch-up from not getting anything done yesterday.
Ok. I am going to go. I have had this open, trying to type and I have gotten side tracked like 5 times.

Yes, @KateNkognito we are in the same boat as far as super cold and snow on the way. I also haven't seen recent snow totals yet, now that you mention it. It is still a little soon. But, either way something is definitely coming this way!! Good idea re: the gas tank. I will make sure we do that too. At this point we will prepare to be in all day Sunday and Monday. Snow is supposed to start on Saturday night. Will make sure we have plenty to eat (I know we won't starve LOL). Another soup just might be in the books!!

Thanks for the comments regarding my Mom. Yesterday she got discharged from the hospital and moved to the same rehab she was in during November/December. Which she likes, which is good. This time she is on quarantine in a private room until she tests negative for COVID. Then she will do rehab to get strong and then eventually go back to her facility. Sigh… I spoke to her last night and she sounds okay. Just sounds like she has a cold.

My afternoon ended up being pretty quiet. Today should be the same.
Going to be heading out mid day to get the grocery shopping done and we will plan to be in all weekend and most likely won't leave the house until Tuesday morning for work. Today and tomorrow are going to be snow and rain free, but Saturday is supposed to be a high of a whopping 18 degrees F. So yeah we will just stay home. Snow comes Sunday early, midnight and continues through Monday. A foot or a little more are our latest totals.
Filled up the car with gas last night and ran it through the car wash, so that is done. I guess I shouldn't really be too worried about this storm since we have all wheel drive and the closest grocery store is less than a mile away but I don't know. This feels like it is going to be a big one. Sigh…
Hoping that people don't lose power due to ice and falling branches. That happened last year when we had a storm come through on President's Day. Spent the whole day with no power and it was freezing. Been there, done that.

Today has been a busy one! People are all tucked in their houses/offices and have decided to catch up on all their paperwork! LOL I don't mind. Keeps me busy. And we are working remotely today, so I didn't even have to put on real pants. 😊

We have all the things we need and we are just going to stay tucked inside for a couple of days. We'll see how much we get. Predictions are 3-10 inches. I don't think they actually know on this one…
