Several years ago I used MFP to lose over 100 pounds in two years. I felt great and managed to keep it off until my life went to… My husband of over 50 years developed dementia and it progressed fairly rapidly. Over a six month period I managed to clear out our home of nearly 30 years and sell it, buy a nice ground floor wheelchair accessible condo and move.
His illness had progressed in two years from minor memory issues to him being totally incapable of doing anything. I cared for him at home, with hospice coming for the last six months. Then last August we realized that I couldn't physically take care of him and made the difficult decision that he needed to be in a nursing home. Over the past two years, I had gained back all my weight plus some more just from stress eating.
Now he is in a nursing home just a few miles from the condo. At Christmas I decided that I was miserable and needed to lose the weight. I found that MFP was a great tool the first time around so I came back.
Since the day after Christmas I've lost almost 20 pounds. I'm doing 1200-1300 calories a day and 16/8 intermittent fasting. I only eat between 9am and 5pm each day. The only time I break it is when I go out to eat with friends or family, which is only every couple of weeks. I don't get to exercise much because I have a bad knee which makes walking difficult. As soon as the weather warms up I'm going to start going over to our gym to use the bike and do some strength training. I need to get the knee fixed, but I'd rather do it after I lose 100 pounds.
It's nice to be back.
