Trying this again. Retired in July. 65 yrs old. 184 pounds 5 ft 4. I need to lose 30-40 pounds. I am truly amazed at the people that need to lose more and stay committed! It is so hard.
Hello and welcome (back - since I see you've had an ID here for a while)!
I started out at 59 in almost the spot you describe: I was 5'5", 183 pounds, already retired. I lost about 50 pounds in just under year, now 70 and still at a healthy weight. It is possible!
For me, MFP was the perfect tool. It let me figure out how to remodel my routine eating habits to feel reasonably full and happy on appropriate calories, and get reasonable overall nutrition, while eating foods I enjoy and find practical and affordable.
I'm a big fan of seeking a personally easier plan, rather than falling into a "lose weight fast" plan, adopting trendy named diets, doing unpleasant exercise, etc. That helped me find habits I could just keep following once I got to a good weight.
I hope MFP works out well for you this time around, too!
