You betcha. I do try to do that, honestly.
Just as an observation: Encouragement can take different forms, and not all of them look like saying the person is on the right, most effective path, no matter what that path is. Sometimes the right encouragement is suggesting that they might want to re-think some details to improve their chances of succeeding with their goals and thriving in other ways. We do see posts here from people who are (for one example) on a slippery slope toward eating disorders or otherwise risking their health. Support means being honest with them, not just "encouraging" them on risky path.
However you define encouragement, I hope you're joining in with making encouraging posts and replies here. I've gotten benefits from other MFP-ers who have been kind enough to do that for me.
