We had a nice luncheon on Thursday for Executive Assistant's day. We went to a local steak house and I brought home some leftovers.
I can't believe today is May 1. The year is flying by. It is sunny and mid 60's F here. Looking forward to signing off for the weekend in a few minutes. Watching the clock. Don't mind me!
Today has been a little busy but not crazy. Thankfully. I got more travel plans done. Sheesh. All good. I like it when they travel and leave me alone. LOL

Mine was good. Quiet and productive! And we got to the gym each day, which is my goal.
I do a lot of cooking in advance for the coming weeks so I will cook and toss stuff in the freezer, etc. so we have it for the coming weeks. This past week I was almost fully out of foods for the week, so time for a restock! Cranked out two recipes between Saturday and Sunday and after tonight when I cook a yummy turkey meatloaf, I will be caught up again. :)
Just had a lovely Icelandic Provisions Skyr for breakfast! They were on sale at our local market and the flavor was amazing - salted caramel and banana. Yes please!! LOL Super nice and creamy and only 170 calories. Will most definitely pick them up again soon if they are on sale.
Today is my Mom's birthday. Mine is this coming Saturday. No big plans here. Probably will go out for dinner on Saturday night to a burger place we like. I am all about a good burger!
Did you watch the Kentucky Derby @KateNkognito? It was a fun race and we like the fact that a woman trainer won! Yea!

@Meghan509 Happy birthday to your mom!! And happy early birthday to you! I am in the same place with my freezer stash. It is getting perilously low. I need to spend an hour or two making some rice/pasta/potatoes and then cooking a few proteins and portioning the sauces. It won't take long, but I have been really swamped lately. I didn't watch the Derby, but I did watch half of the Wild vs Avalanche before I fell asleep. The Wild lost. But there are 6 more games, so all is not lost!
I have gotten all my easy stuff done, so I will dive into the not so easy stuff! Wish me luck! If I can make it through the next couple of weeks, it should all even out.

Oooh my BF has been watching the Stanley Cup playoffs! Very cool. Hope your team wins it all! I am a NY Islander fan and unfortunately they did crappy enough towards the end of the season to just miss the playoffs. Bummer. It seemed like they were having a decent year.
Last night I made a really nice turkey meatloaf. Recipe here: https://kristineskitchenblog.com/turkey-meatloaf/
It was very simple and easy. Next time I will consider doubling the recipe since it makes six smaller servings. I padded it with broccoli and healthy mashed potatoes (used broth vs. milk) and everything was very tasty.
I find Kristine's Kitchen is a pretty good site and I make a lot of her stuff.

Work is busy but good. Not crazy. Our Board is in town tomorrow and Thursday. When that happens we have A LOT of visitors and all of the conference rooms get taken up by people doing meetings or trying to find a place to work. Fun, fun, fun!

It is funny how this is a very common time for weddings! We were chatting at the lunch table yesterday about this. One colleague was celebrating his today and our other colleague celebrates her anniversary on my birthday, May 9. Too funny.
Work has been busy today. Started off with a flurry of texts and IM's from my manager and a VP, before I had even left the house. Sheesh.
Traffic was kind today which was nice. I got in before 9:00am. Fingers crossed for tonight. LOL

Traffic was a giant pain in the you know where today. You know it is not good when Maps is telling me not to get on the highway until later. Then when I got on it was not moving so I got off and took the scenic route for a bit. It took me a little longer but at least I was moving and not sitting in bumper to bumper. UGH.
The good news is I was only a tiny bit late. No biggie. Boss and management team are all upstairs in our BOD Meetings, so nobody was looking for me. :)
It was rainy this morning but the weather has cleared up and it is mostly sunny now. Looking like rain for Saturday, which kind of stinks but it is what it is. Not the end of the world. BF was hoping to go to his parent's house for Sunday mother's day but our main highway has a lot of closures planned for paving and construction. I told him I think we should offer a plan B of next weekend.

Work was pretty quiet yesterday for me. I was mostly in a holding pattern due to waiting for responses, information, etc., etc. Following up is a big part of my role it seems lately. 😐️
Rain is coming tomorrow which is a bummer because it is my birthday. I much prefer sunshine! It looks nice out there today. Watching the squirrels go by on my front lawn. Reminds me that I need to fill up the bird feeder soon. A nice part of working remotely is being able to see a little nature throughout the day!
That is pretty much it from here. No big plans this weekend other than going out for dinner on Saturday night.

Oooh thank you so much for the birthday wishes @KateNkognito!! I DID have a nice day on Saturday! It was a little rainy but we made the best of it! We were home for most of the day relaxing. Went to the gym. Came back home for a while and then went out to dinner. Went to a great burger place we like. I was in the mood!
Hope all is working out with the added job responsibilities! Yes, being able to see how someone else did it is a life saver! We did a lot of that following COVID, when quite a few people had been let go and we were trying to figure out the way forward. That was six years ago, just earlier this month. Jeez how time flies.
Hope you had a great Mother's Day! I called and spoke with my Mom. BF called his Mom too. My Mom sounds a lot better and more "with it" when I speak to her on the phone. They had put her on an antidepressant a few months back and I feel like she's clearer. Have to look in to that to see if those drugs are supposed to to that. Hmmm… She's also doing physical therapy and I think that has also given her some pep back.
Work is slowish today. Got a few things to do but nothing too strenuous. LOL

Traffic has been a total b*tch lately. The last couple of nightly commutes have been almost AN HOUR to get home and I only need to go ten miles. 😫
I told my colleague I am walking out of here a few minutes before 5pm from now on. Even just a few minutes early should help. UGH!

Weather here is warm and sunny for the foreseeable future. The baby chickens are old enough and it is warm enough that they have officially moved out to the coop full time. They still like to sit on people though! LOL

So, yesterday was nuts and I forgot to check in. Sorry about that! :( The office renovation project has really amped up. Today we have a call with the electrician we chose. I find that these contractors always need to be chased, constantly. Don't people want to work and do these jobs!? UGH.

Our lunch with the CEO was good! He is nice and talkative. I also got to meet our new CFO. Also a super nice guy and very talkative and personable. I like!
I have started leaving right AT 5:00pm or a few minutes earlier and it has made ALL the difference in the evening commute. Phew. I think what really gets me about traffic is my commute is only ten miles and when it takes me almost an hour to do that is when I really lose my mind. UGH.
Not too much else going on here. Looking forward to a low key weekend outside on the patio!

YES, today is totally being a Monday! But, the good news for me is I am OFF on Friday and on Monday! We are closed for Memorial Day on Monday which is nice. In memory of all who served. ❤️
The not so nice news is the weather for the long weekend is looking a little meh for us. Fingers crossed that changes! If not, we will find something fun to do.
This past weekend was great weather wise! We sat outside both Saturday and Sunday! Today is another winner and our neighbor's cat swung by for a quick visit too! I am working from home and spotted her and ran out to say hello! LOL

Both of my sons are starting their summer jobs this week. That shakes up the routine a bit. I am also looking forward to the long weekend. If I didn't have so many things to do at work, I would take an extra day off. However, I am pretty sure I would drown when I came back, if I did that! LOL

Just a little after noon here! Been a crazy day here too!
First I had to take around a new person who started yesterday. She is super nice and chatty (which is good) so that worked out well! Then I had to meet our maintenance guy for him to come in and look at our reception area and show him what we want to do. Finished that up. Then I had to meet a lunch delivery for an 11:30am meeting happening here. He was supposed to come at 11:30am but by the time he arrived it was 11:50am. Ugh. All good. Another nice guy and he appreciates our business.
Now I hear people gathering for lunch in our kitchen area. I am staying at my desk for now, I need to get work done! LOL

Last minute work from home day. We have an appointment with the house guy for new doors and I was trying to figure out how to get everything done AND get back and forth for the appointment and then I remembered that I can work from home and my boss was cool with it, even though everyone is supposed to be in the office on Wednesdays.

Still tripping over my winter stuff! Luckily I am a sweater queen so I have a range of light to heavy that can get me through any temperatures. Office Air Conditioning does not play! Brrrrr… LOL

Work was really busy yesterday but today it is really quiet! I do have a few things I should be doing to try and get ahead (if there is such a thing) but I do like to keep busy. It makes the day go by faster!
Last couple of days were very warm and humid here. 90's F. Today we are back in the 50's F after some rain, etc. Thunder storm warnings kept coming through via the news and phone alerts last night but we managed to dodge the crazy heavy rain which is good.
That is pretty much it from here. I will start making my binders now. Fun, fun, fun!

Friday was beautiful. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning was rain, rain, and more rain. Monday afternoon turned beautiful! We ended up sitting outside on the patio and relaxing all afternoon. Got to open up the door and let some fresh air in. All good!
Saturday night we went to our friend's house and we had a great time. And the cool thing is we made plans for this coming Saturday night to meet up and have dinner. Looking forward to this too.

We had a really good weekend. Having an extra day to get everything done was SO nice. AND I got to go see a movie with my BIL's wife. Nobody wanted to go see Sheep Detectives, so we went together. 😊
This week has been pretty chill, so far. I will take it! I am pretty sure people will make up for it next week!
Missed my chance to log in yesterday! Been busy but good here. Office renovations have kept me busier than usual. Also next week I have two different meetings happening here with transports, meals, conference rooms booked and all that fun stuff. Still waiting for one of the attendees to get back to me with their travel plans. Sigh…
We started construction in our lobby today! That is going well so far. We use a local small time contractor who ironically lives just up the street from me. Isn't that crazy!? I live ten miles east of the office. :)
Today we have a fire drill scheduled at the office. Typically no biggie but in our case we have to go down fifteen flights! UGH. Even though I have been exercising pretty regularly four days a week my legs will feel it. Booo…

We are staying put this weekend with no plans. Dinner with the friends is postponed for now. Honestly fine with us. Supposed to be beautiful and we don't feel like driving back and forth again… We will most likely be driving back there on Saturday, June 6 when BF's brother in family are in town and staying with his parents. We get to skip a week of driving to and from NYC - go us! LOL
