Glad to be here! 65+ year old diabetic looking for help and motivation for easy ways to eat healthy and exercise. Any and all help greatly appreciated!
I have 149 to be exact to lose. I have also been dx'd as diabetic. I'm a 52-year-old and and am thinking about the future. So, I have cut carbs, starting easy at 50 g a day max (at least I work to get to that). Our fast food availability and unhealthy food availability is hard to navigate around. It's so easy to go to a drive through or order take out. I find that being mindful of what I eat helps, but it also helps to get the unhealthy foods out of the house and stock up with meat, eggs, fish, cheese, etc. for low carb. Some fiber is good too!
That's my advice. Your carb goal may be less or more than my 50 g, but as long as you're in a healthy deficit. Also, calories count too, but you will find that protein (low carb) satiates really well so you don't go over your calories. Then some light or what you can handle exercise.
I used to be on one of the GLP-1 products, and lost 30 lbs, but the side effects were too much. I like this personal approach with control better!
Best of wishes!
