The final month of summer is upon us! Let's make it a good one!!
How did August sneak up so fast? June was like two months long and then July just went POOF!
I had a good weekend. Got lots of things done and took a couple of excellent naps. The weather was SO much nicer! I ended up being outside a lot. It was lovely! I am almost done with quilting, then the binding, which takes forever. Have I mentioned the binding TAKES FOREVER?
Off to see what today is going to throw at me. Hopefully it is nice and chill. But I won't count on it.

Glad you had a good weekend! We did too. Saturday was really nice and we had friends over and had a nice BBQ. Spent the whole afternoon outside on the patio. Felt like summer!
Quilting sounds awesome! We have a family friend who used to make some beautiful quilts. Now that she's been living in Florida all year round I don't think she makes them anymore.
We have a head cold happening here. My BF started coming down with a scratchy throat and now it is a full blown head cold. Not fun! He's been taking some meds that are helping. And I don't think I need to worry about catching it - knocks on wood - because last week I was bothered by a milder version. Fingers crossed. He's been sleeping in the guest bedroom and washing his hands religiously. Things are definitely going around in these parts. Sigh…
Our washing machine stopped working yesterday afternoon! Fun, fun, fun! Notified the landlords and a service call has been scheduled for tomorrow. Sigh…
Work is a little busier than last week. My boss is back and has been IM'ing me. LOL Funny thing is she is in all this week and then is off again next week!
Rain, rain, and more rain today and for most of the week this week. Though as I type this and glance out the window the sun has slightly come out?! I want to be a weatherman in my next life! What an easy job! Doesn't matter if you are wrong! LOL

My new book comes out today. It is cooler and cloudy today. I am getting things done left and right. Today is a GOOD DAY! I am going to ride this high all the way to the book store on the way home and then I am going to read until my bedtime and then get up in the morning and go get my blood re-tested for my thyroid. I would stay up all night, but you are supposed to be well rested for the thyroid panel.
@Meghan509 I hope everyone in your house feels better soon. Summer sickness is the worst! It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, though!

Work is a little busy today. I sent out a bunch of emails yesterday looking for a carpet contractor to come in and do a walk through and give us a bid. Got a call back and an email so far. So far a faster response then the electricians! LOL
BF is starting to feel better which is good! But, he didn't sleep well last night. The meds kept him awake for a good chunk of the night. I joked with him - at least your nose wasn't bothering you though! LOL
The service tech came by this morning to look our washing machine. It is repairable. New parts are on order and he should be able to come back on Monday of next week to fix it. Fingers crossed. The good news is we have a nice newly renovated laundromat literally down the road from us to use in the mean time if needed. :)

Just had a flood of visitors this morning at the office. Showing people around, checking them in - all that fun stuff! How do people get work done if they have a lot of meetings!? Always wondered that. :)

Not too much going on non work. BF is slowing getting rid of his cold which is good. He slept much better last night. Last night we had salmon, potatoes, and broccoli for dinner. It was good. It was the best night to run the oven since the humidity is on the way.
Today it is 77 F and mostly sunny at the moment but the humidity is definitely coming. That fun time of summer when it gets so hot that it creates PM thunderstorms! Supposed to head in to the 90's F! Oh boy. Pony tail weather for me. LOL

I have the same wonder sometimes about people with meetings. I know one person that intentionally set their hours for 9-6 so that they are in the office for at least an hour after almost everyone has left and they can get things done. I sometimes end up staying late for the same reason.
My book is great so far! It is one of those that you have to read a bit and then stop and think about because there is a lot going on and there is also a bit of a mystery going on in the background and you gotta stop and ponder the clues.
Today is absolutely DEAD for me. No phone calls, emails, or anything in my queue. I have been around to everyone to see if there is anything I can help with. Nothing. I am going to have to find something to keep me occupied. I think the document cabinet is calling my name today.

Glad your book is good @KateNkognito!! I am flying through mine. The good and bad about not being able to sleep in - more reading time! LOL
Hot and really humid here today. UGH. My hair. LOL My office thermometer says 64% humidity at the moment which is pretty high for an office with very cool A/C.
We are expecting a carpeting contractor here at 11am so watching the clock for that. He will be our first bid. We have another guy coming early next week. It will be a big job to recarpet our office with two floors of offices, cubes, furniture, etc. But it does need to be done. Our existing carpeting is looking pretty rough with stains and coffee spills. It is in too light of a tan. That was a decision made by a woman no longer with the company. And one we regret!
Hope you have a good Friday Eve and it is quiet but not too dead! I kind of felt like that yesterday. Was scrolling on my phone because it was so quiet. My boss is away again next week (she always plans two weeks off in the summer with a week in the office in between). :)

Thursday has betrayed me. It is usually my favorite day. Today is not my favorite day. I have been running around all morning and have not actually FINISHED anything. I am in the middle of a million little things right now. And the weather stinks. It is cloudy, but not cool. The humidity is like 90% and it is supposed to get to almost 100 today. I have a headache and I am retaining water.
On a positive note, I expect the results from my thyroid panel that I went and got yesterday to come in some time today (maybe tomorrow). I am super excited to see what it says.
@Meghan509 My hair is not loving the humidity, either. New carpet always makes a space look so much better! I hope you can find a color that isn't too dark, but can hide those pesky drink spills!

Thanks @KateNkognito the carpet installer guy was good. We liked him. He stayed and measured everything and he should be submitting a bid soon. Next up is the guy on Tuesday. We are excited for the new carpeting!!

Today is quiet. Working on a few calendar things for my boss, but pretty quiet otherwise.

We are planning to go to BF's parents house tomorrow. His birthday is next Saturday, so we will most likely celebrate a little early with them. Been a couple of weeks since we were last there.
