I’m beginning a weight loss adventure using the GLP-1 method. Hoping to lose about 55 lbs. I took my first dose today. Fingers crossed I won’t have any serious side affects and will see good results.
Any tips for success are welcome!
I wish you luck on your new weight loss adventure
My dad uses it's it works well
I started Wegovy pill 4 months ago. The food noise is gone! I’ve lost 22lbs so far. I have about 35 to go. I am taking it slow. Everything I read says that hitting your protein target each day and strength training will make a big difference to your success.
Best of luck on your journey 🙂
My first advice - GLP-1 drugs or not - is always to make an easier-to-follow plan rather than a "lose weight fast" plan. Meaningful weight loss takes time.
GLP-1 drugs can be a great tool in the toolkit for many. Changing one's routine daily eating and activity habits permanently is how meaningful weight loss happens, and more importantly how staying at a healthy weight long term happens. It doesn't necessarily mean radical overhaul, just enough better to get results.
The drugs can help a person get into a headspace where weight loss can happen, and make appetite less a factor, making it easier to experiment and find habits that can stick long term and be consistent with an overall happy, practical life. That can be a great aid.
Finding new habits means figuring out which foods are filling, tasty, practical, affordable and add up to reasonable overall nutrition and calorie level. Adding some enjoyable - at minimum tolerable and practical - ways to move more has additional health benefits. That may include formal exercise, but also just more daily life activities that involve moving: Window shopping (walking 😉), active video/VR games, a morning stretch, dancing, taking on more active projects at home, whatever.
Reaching a healthy weight IME is a huge quality of life improvement, well worth pursuing. Being more mobile, stronger, with better cardiovascular health: That adds another layer of benefits.
As context, I lost about 50 pounds over 10 years ago, and have stayed at a healthy weight since. When I started, I was 59, with a number of poor health markers (high cholesterol/triglycerides, high blood pressure, arthritis pain). All of that improved significantly - the lipids and blood pressure to consistently healthy levels. I want everyone to experience benefits like that.
I'm cheering for you to succeed!
Hi! I’m just about to start this journey myself. Great to see others in my same shoes here!
Which GLP-1 are you using? Pills or shots?
