Hey everyone! I just found out my 10 year high school reunion is in exactly 1 year- so I'm on a mission. I'm 27, so kids no pets not married. I'm just starting training for my first 1/2 marathon in April 2014, and I'm trying to get into yoga. I love weight lifting and any high intensity workout, so distance running and yoga challenges my patience!
I'm over restrictive and extreme diets, I've tried everything from vegan to raw to paleo etc and now I'm starting from square 1, just learning to live healthy!
Looking for some accountability buddies here that have similar goals (I'd like to lose about 30 pounds) and lifestyles!
xoxo

Where/What is D Town?
Detroit, decator, daytona, derbyshire, devon,..
Diet, dunking, dexterity, drunk, damned, ditto...
Congrats on finding MFP. You are on the right path of giving yourself a year to lose the 30 lbs. If you set MFP to lose 1 lb a week, you can do this in 30 weeks. Stay within your calories and get some exercise in and this will be easy peasy. At least it has been for me so far.
Tips form my experience
If you are using the MFP method, eat back your exercise cals as well as the cals it sets for you. You will need them to keep losing.
Use a heart rate monitor to determine your fitness cals as the numbers given from MFP are always high.
Drink lots of water
Exercise - heavy lift if you have access to a gym with weights as that will help you lose weight and you will be reshaping your body at the same time.
Eat the foods you enjoy, so you can avoid binges or cravings. Just eat less of them and make sure the food you eat fits in your cals for the day.
I use a fitbit to help me figure out my daily calorie burn so I can know how many cals to eat.
Good luck!0 -

Great advice!
I tend to get overly restrictive when I am on a 'diet' as well. I finding tracking really carefully on MFP actually helps me see I should be eating more!! Plus I love being able to check out other people's diaries for ideas .
I'm new to this latest MFP journey - about 2 weeks in but feeling positive and loving being part of the community this time round - really is sooo much better. Feel free to add me0
