Today is my off day from running and the gym...0
-
Yesterday a mild Tae Kwon Do work out.
Today I did Cardio Strength from Daily Burn and my husband and walked 1.7 miles in the cold dark night. It was nice, but chilly 40 degrees.
I only think about running, I used to say that is why I do martial arts so that if someone is chasing me I will just stop and defend myself instead of running. : ) But now that I have lost some weight I am thinking about it again.0 -
Hey guys! Well, thanks for the pep talk. It was exactly what I needed. I've decided to take the rest of the week off.  That probably wasn't the desired effect, right? haha. Actually, I had to really think about "making fitness a priority", because it sounded strange, like saying to someone "make a massage a priority", or "make frivolous shopping a priority". I have come to love running and I'm eager to get into Stronglifts, because these are the things that I do for ME and that I enjoy (like shopping, etc). So I had to run down the reason I've been letting all these excuses slip in. Well, in order for me to run, I have to prepare at least 2, sometimes upto 4-5 hours in advance, meaning I have to get dressed for it (y'kno double-bra, running pants & shirt, hoodie, and running shoes) and not carry any purse (or "diaper/kid bag") when I leave the house (anytime between 10-1), although I won't even get to run til 3pm. I have to get my girl ready, sometimes take her to play, drop her off (she cries), pick up my son, take the bus, compile his homework, drop him off with instructions to the tutor, ... exhale.... and THEN run. That's everyday M-F. THAT'S what I grew tired of! And I'm taking the week off from that this week. And that makes me feel good. (Someday I WiLL be that person who just steps out of there house, runs 5k, and then steps back inside for a shower.)
Tim, enjoy your rest day--you really earned it!
Laura, you've got such a great set-up with your trainer--great consistency.
Dale, I hope you get good news from the dr. and can get on the mend.
Marla, that river walk sounds nice. We used to live near the tow path in Washington, DC and it's so nice to have a well-done path like that.
Maureen, that's GREAT news! So glad to hear you are back at it OUTSIDE.
Jen, you are very active! Well done. I thought the same thing about running: to lose some weight first (but more than that, I was just a little timid of flopping around, lol). But eventually I just did it and am so happy I did. I was a big walker before that and now I love that I can cover so much more ground so much faster running. Actually, now that I know I can run without huffing & puffing & side hurting, sometimes I just run just to get to places faster, lol. My son and I will often run from school to the bus, or halfway to his TKD lesson. Walking feels so outdated. haha.
Have an outstanding day everyone!! Friday is on the horizon.0 -
Hi everyone!
My rest day too today. Typically Thursdays are a trainer day but his schedule got messed up so I'm going in tomorrow. Doesn't matter to me except our Friday sessions are at 5:00 a.m. and it's pretty brutal when my alarm goes off at 4:00 so I can get up, pull myself together, and get there early enough to do some warm-up cardio. *yawns* But my body hurts this week so I'm okay with an early rest day. I suspect today's workout would have been fairly hopeless so instead I can recover & hit it hard in the morning.
Sherry you need to do what works for you!
Tim enjoy your rest day!
Hope everybody else has a great day too. :flowerforyou:

Writing before I work out today, busy day. Leaving for nia class soon, errands then day in bigger city watching chick flick with a girl friend.
Sherri, there are exercises you can do at home if you want while waiting to get out or maybe you just want a time out we all go through that.
I have a treadmill at home for when the snow comes..they are predicting we might get some in a few days, believe it when I see it!0 -
it's pretty brutal when my alarm goes off at 4:00
:noway: Brutal, I'll say!!!!! That was my bedtime last night!! Really! Well, there was a thunderstorm that kept my lil girl up, but not that far off from a regular night.
I am in awe of those of you who get up early for your workout! I don't know if that will ever be available to me, since my son's TKD doesn't end til 9pm (for now. the teenagers & adults class is until 10pm), then getting home & dinner & baths, means the kids don't get to bed til 10-10:30. Schedules are very different in this country because there's no afternoon dance, martial arts, fitness lessons due to a siesta time (which at least means less traffic when I run & empty-ish gyms during afternoon :glasses: ).0 -

Today I worked out to Daily Burn Kickboxing Interval Training. Burned 467 calories! Couldn't make it to TKD had two meetings, but planning on going for a walk a little later.
Have a great day!0
