Hi all,
Just thought I would bring something to your attention if you weren't already aware.
I bought some ko Lee Low Fat Noodles from Amazon thinking the total calorie value was 76 cals per 85 g pack, which the packaging leads you to believe is correct and which the fitnesspal scanner backs up. Very good for a calorie controlled diet I thought, but then 1 review caught my attention so I did some digging and after a lot of failed correspondence finally spoke to the manufacturer.
The nutrition values shown on the pack relate to the cooked weight, which is not stated anywhere on the packaging. With the dried weight be 85g and each portion being shown as 85g the obvious assumption was the values were for each pack. However when cooked the noodles weigh about 400g. So each pack is actually meant to represent about 4.5 portions of 85g!!
To be fair to chap I spoke to at the manufacturers did say they are looking at changing the way the nutrition is displayed but that may have just been to stop me bugging him. They may be low fat but in terms of calories you need to careful if using as part of a calorie controlled diet, I have managed to amend the database accordingly (I think!!) so now it shows the correct values per whole pack. Hope this is of some help.
