TDEE - 500 calories?

Wouldn't this be a simple way to figure out calories needed on a daily basis to lose a pound a week? My TDEE is 2184. So, if I net 1650 cal/day, shouldn't I lose? I exercise 4x/week for 45-60 minutes, so couldn't those calories be eaten back and I will still lose?
I have tried Weight Watchers and MFP at 1380 cal/day (what MFP recommends), and I last a few days and fall off the wagon...it's just not enough for me (I'm starving)!

Sure you will.
And if that's a reasonable deficit, perhaps only fat.
If it's not a reasonable deficit, how do you feel about muscle mass?
And actually, you might not understand the concept or you just used wrong terms.
If you calculated a TDEE that included your planned exercise as normal, and took off a deficit, you do NOT NET the eating goal.
You GROSS that eating goal, because you already included exercise.
Now, if you did not include exercise in the TDEE level - then you are merely using MFP's method, and just described it.
Even NET'ing and eating back your exercise calories.
So why not just stick with that.
For more info on why the TDEE method can be more useful.
