Day 8: Talenti's German Chocolate Cake Gelato; 1/2 cup. Sweet Jesus. I need this in my life. Every day. It's glorious. I'm incapable of more complex thought. It's a milk chocolate gelato with a caramel swirl and candied pecan and coconut pieces. 10/10, but would not bang again. Would respectfully court and woo with the intention of marrying. Would probably get serious and say "I love you" too soon. But we'd work it out because we're meant to be.:blushing:

I checked four different grocery stores for the German Chocolate Cake with no luck.

It's a limited edition, so it may be gone.

Oh no! Have you checked their store locator? You can't narrow it down to determine what exactly they carry, but I found a whole slew of options near me that I wasn't aware carried it. https://talentigelato.com/store-locator/

It's worth waiting and searching for, in my opinion. I was somewhat in mental anguish buying it because I was afraid it would get melty before I got it home, and then it could suffer from the dreaded grittiness that refrozen ice cream gets sometimes.

Hey, now this says it's available at Walmart. Damn! :grumble: And that's the *only* store within 10 miles of me...I hate Walmart. I may have to suck it up though. The way everyone is talking up this gelato, I have to taste it now! :explode:

Wah wah... Maybe you'll stumble upon it one day; it will be serendipitous.

I haven't had the caramel apple pie. I'd like to try it... but no place around me stocks it... Lol. Maybe we should set up some kind of underground gelato network.

I'm a little horrified that these are limited edition flavors. That sort of makes me want to cry.

Now THERE is a great idea! We should set up an ice cream/gelato exchange program. i think all we need are foam coolers and dry ice

No gelato at my grocery store. Google says I can't buy any here:

    qn0h7r.png

I think your Google must be broken. If not, then it's time to move.

When I change the search from "shopping" to "web," I came up with some restaurants. None of the grocery stores have it though. They have ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt. :ohwell:

    One of these days...

    Where are you, Canadia?!

Nope. I'm smack dab in the middle of the USA.

(ETA: My ticker might be a hint.)

I thought about that, but one of my friends is in the UK, and has a NY Rangers jersey as her avatar, so I wasn't sure.

You should be able to find it at Target and Hyvee, if there's one near you. I just saw there's another store near me that carries it, so I'm going to see if they have the German Chocolate Cake.

Day 1: hot fudge brownie sundae with Edy's vanilla bean
    Day 2: same
Day 3: Midnight Truffle blizzard from DQ
Day 4: Breyer Tiramisu gelato-- awesome-- will buy again. Not as crazy about the ladyfingers but the mascarpone and espresso are both amazing
Day 5: same-- turns out that either they're wrong about how many servings are in a container or they're wrong about the weight of a serving. *shrug*
Day 6: hot fudge brownie sundae-- last of the brownies.
Day 7: Edy's slow churned french silk
    Day 8: same
Day 9: B&J Salted Caramel Core-- I was hoping this one would be like the caramel side of the Karamel Sutra but I didn't like it as well. I did the core though, it was saltier than the Karamel Sutra. But I don't think I'll get it again. If I want caramel I'll get the other.
Day 10: Edy's slow churned french silk

Day 1 - Haagen-Dazs Caramelized Banana Chip (10/10). Great flavor & creamy texture. Highly recommend if you like banana!
Day 2 - Ciao Bella Pumpkin Sea Salted Caramel (8/10). Flavor is spot on, but it has a pumpkin puree like texture I didn't care for. However, very macro friendly! 190 cals - 9f/24c/3p per serving
Day 3 - Talenti - Toasted Almond (currently consuming). 230 cals - 10f/27c/7/p per serving. Giving this one a 10/10 (I'm biased towards almonds though). Chopped almonds, brown sugar & maple syrup swirl in a sweet cream base. Good mix of salty & sweet. nom nom nom.
Day4 - Three Twins Butterscotch Pecan - Currently Eating, will edit after consumed. Heavier macros on this one... 230 cals - 15f, 21c/3p. Flavor is really good on this one. Another mix of sweet and salt. However, the texture kinda sucked.... I was expecting it to be much creamier considering the 15g fat per serving. I guess the majority of the fat came from the chopped pecans though. I personally wouldn't waste 60g fat on a whole pint again moving forward. 7.5/10
Day 5 - Maple's Organics Cardamom Ginger - Great macros on this one... 150 cals - 9f/17c/3p. I had my hesitations about this one, but damn... 10/10! Very refreshing flavor, texture was very creamy! Cant beat that, good macros & good flavor. Highly recommend this one! **Just got to near the bottom and there was a huge candied ginger piece, motherofpearl it was yummy!
Day 6 - Talenti - Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip - 230 cals - 13/f/25c/4p. Really nice flavor, very creamy. Tastes just like a Dark Chocolate Raspberry candy bar. Raspberry Gelato with Dark chocolate shavings which provide a nice crunch, but melt in your mouth since they're so thin. I would give it a 9.5/10, but this is because I still can't get that damn cardamom ginger out of my mind.
Day 7 - Talenti - Sicilian Pistachio - 210 cals - 10f/27c/4p. Nice flavor... standard pistachio flavored ice cream base, with chewy pieces of pistachios. Good balance of sweet & salty. I recommend if you have a thing for Pistachios or nut flavored (giggity) ice creams. Stacked up against the Toasted Almond by Talenti, it ranks below it. However, still a solid one overall. 9.5/10.
Day 8 - B&J Red Velvet Cake - 250 cals - 13f/30c/4p. Big red velvet fan here, so my expectations were rather high. Nice red velvet cake batter base with cream cheese swirl. Also has a good amount of red velvet cake piece thrown in for a chewy texture (highlight feature of this IMO). I thought it was good, but not worth the due to the amount of calories for the pint as a whole. My review could also a bit biased since my expectations were rather high but actual taste and such came in below expectations...8.5/10
Day 9 - Ciao Bella Brown Sugar Caramel - 230 cals - 11f/28c/4p. Initially I wasn't too impressed with the flavor from the start, but as I got deeper into it... it did grow on my. I'll be honest my expectations were high for this one but something was a bit off about the flavor. I didn't really get any "brown sugar" taste from it... it tasted more like a coffee with caramel or something of the sort...So much so that I checked the label to see if that was in the ingredients. Oddly enough there was a tapioca syrup in it (not sure if that would explain it). Sorry guys... I know yall were hoping this one would be a winner, but I'm docking points for the WTF flavor factor despite it still being flavorful. 8/10.

Day 10 - Ciao Bella Malted Milk Ball - 240 cals - 13f/28c/4p. This one delivered.... My lord! So creamy and delightful! Imagine a Chocolate Malt Shake ice cream base with crunchy malted milk balls all throughout. It made me reminisce of Halloween as a young kid and getting the malted milk ball treats. The only downside was that is that I finished it and didnt have any left
    :(....Highly recommend this one! 10/10

Day 3 - Talenti Tahitian Vanilla Bean Gelato (1/2 cup)
Day 4- Talenti Caramel Apple Pie Gelato (1/2 cup) and Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream (although only about 1/3 a serving. i just couldn't wait to sample it)
Day 5- B&J Cinnamon Buns (1/2 cup) and 1/4 cup of Talenti Tahitian Vanilla that i turned into green tea with some matcha :) ….and a chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter cream filling and chocolate icing with dark shaved chocolate pieces on top
Day 6- Talenti Caramel Apple Pie and Talenti Double Dark Chocolate (1/2 cup each)
Day 7- Jeni's Birch and Marshmallows (1/2 cup), Jeni's Wildberry Lavender Ice Cream (1/4 cup) and B&J's Pumpkin Cheesecake (1/2 cup)
Day 8- Steve's Cold-Brewed Cinnamon Coffee (1/2 cup), Jeni's Banana French Toast Ice Cream (1/4 cup), a skinny cow snickerdoodle sandwich, and Three Twins Chocolate Orange Confetti (only a 1/4 of a serving)
Day 9 - Phin & Phebes Banana Whama (1/2 cup), Phin & Phebes Ginger Cookie Snap (1/4 cup), and Talenti Caramel Apple Pie (1 cup)
Day 10 - Phin & Phebes Banana Whama (1/2 cup), Jeni's Salty Caramel (1/4 cup) and Jeni's Dark Chocolate (1/2 cup)

Edit to add that i'm finding it very difficult not to grab the pint of Jeni's dark chocolate out of the freezer and devour the rest.

Day 8: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core- 1 cup (people stating that this isn't worth the calories are so incredibly wrong)
Day 9: Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra- 1/2 cup- I am gonna side with this one over the Salted Caramel Core...but Peanut Butter Fudge is still winning.
    Day 10: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter- 1 1/2 cup-ish- finished it off!

Day 1: Slow Churned Vanilla+Two chocolate chip cookies (I know I know, slow churned ice cream?! I'll improve the quality soon, but I gotta finish what I got first. tongue )
Day 2: Store didn't have what I wanted, so it looks like I'm going with Talenti, Tahitian Vanilla Bean+Slow churned Vanilla+2 chocolate chip cookies
Day 3: Peanut Butter Fudge Milkshake, from cookout.

Day 4: 3 chocolate chip cookies+ HD stracciatella gelato. Normally I wouldn't eat these things together but it was a weird day, hunger wise.

Day 5: 1 serving of this. Didn't do my run, so alas my calories are probably going to be too limited for a second serving.
The struggle is real. (limited calories=1800 or so, btw)

Day 6: Tahitian Vanilla again. Nomnom. Gotta finish some of these so I can buy more flavors.
Day 7" Slow churned vanilla and cookies
Day 8: Tahitian Vanilla and chocolate chip cookies. This did not fit my macros. It was tasty.
Day 9: Ben and Jerry's Brownie Cheesecake (1 serving)
Day 10: Ben and Jerry's Half Baked Froyo (2 servings) Walmart Slow churned vanilla (1 serving) and 2 brownies. I was under on fat today.

Day 10 - Talenti - German Chocolate Cake - Oh my chocolate god. I have been recommended so many ice creams and gelato's that I have just been disappointed with before. This was not one of them.  I'm glad I read so many people raving about it today that I went out and finally got it.  From the first bite I seriously thought I was eating an awesome creamy cake.  The layers of chocolate were great.  As far as texture goes smooth, creamy and crunchy. It had it all.  I hate you Talenti for setting the chocolate bar so high.  10/10

Now you understand my pain about not being able to find it anymore! My mouth watered just reading that...

Talenti Egg Nog?!? What?! In April? NEED

The same store also had Dreyer's "Limited Edition Egg Nog"... in a green and red package. I have a feeling they are not exactly... umm.. what's the word? Oh yeah... FRESH.

Went to Canadian Superstore today. They had their house brand President's Choice(?) Cotton Candy. It was a half gallon, I'm road tripping, and I already had a basket full of sausages and pickled eggs so I had to pass it up. But I'm definitely intrigued.

Ha ha I'd still eat it. Ben & Jerry's made a limited edition Cotton Candy and it was really good. I miss it.

On the road again today. Had lunch at A&W (what's up with Canadians and A&W?) so I had a Root Beer Float. It was actually my first soda in over a year.

Later in the day I was at a gas station in Destruction Bay, YT, which is 50 miles from Haines Junction... which is still 150 miles from a grocery store... so I looked in their freezer case and they had a Klondike Cookie Sandwich. I figured since I'm driving all through Yukon Territory basically re-tracing the path of the Klondike Gold Rush, I might as well have a Klondike Bar... or sandwich as it were.

As far as the Canadia not having gelato, they do have it. I saw it today in Canadia's Super Store and also another grocery store. I also saw Ciao Bella for the first time. I also ate the *kitten* out of some gelato at a bunch of different bakeries in Victoria BC last fall.

Yes I'm defending Canadia against a good natured ribbing, That is because all day I've been making fun of Canadia on FB. My wall looks like a book on Canadian cliches, and I feel kind of bad.

Another thing I've learned the past few days... I really am an ice cream snob. A scoop of industrial vanilla in a mug of root beer, or a shmear of industrial vanilla between two crap cookies is no substitute for honest to goodness awesome ice cream.

Day1: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel (1 cup)
Day2: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel (1 cup), Kroger Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich
Day3: Talenti Belgian Chocolate (1 cup)
Day4: House-made Beet Granita Sorbet(1/2C) on a brownie, plus a mid-day metabolism boost from a Latino Heat cupcake
    Day5: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter 2C
Day6: Stone Ridge Creamery Caramel Cheesecake (4C)
    Day7: Stone Ridge (3.25C)
    Day8; Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter 3C
    Day9: Boston Pizza Chocolate Explosion
Day9: A&W Root Beer Float, Klondike Cookie Sandwich

Day 2: 1 cup Blue Bell Kentucky Delight
Day 3: 1/2 cup Blue Bell Kentucky Delight
Day 4: 1 cup Ben & Jerry's Hazed and Confused Core
    Day 5: 3/4 cup Sam's Choice Coffee & Donuts
    Day 6: 1/2 cup Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake
    Day 7: 1/2 cup Jeni's Whiskey & Pecans
Day 8: 1/2 cup Talenti German Chocolate Cake Gelato
Day 9: 1/2 cup Phin & Phebes Coconut Key Lime (with graham cracker chunks!)
Day 10: 1/2 cup Front Porch Scarlett Red Velvet... I was also disappointed in Ben & Jerry's version but this one was rich, creamy, and delicious, with nice big cake chunks. Too bad it's a Carolinas-based company so not widely available for you guys

Argh, way too late for this one... plus, our store selection of ice cream here in the Uk is absolutely abysmal.
Though...we do have two ice cream parlours selling rather a lot of varieties of Gelato.

No gelato at my grocery store. Google says I can't buy any here:

It's not at *my* Hyvee stores. I have two in my city, but neither one carries it. I did find one at one of the Walmart stores in my city, so I will check that out.

Also, I work across the street from a "high end" grocer downtown, and they told me that they are going to be adding various brands of gelato "this spring." So, super-stoked about that. :smokin:
