Hospital Days

Well, I have been having a really good week keeping my calorie goals and keeping up with my meal plan I set up, however this morning we got the news that my boyfriends granny is in the hospital. Before I could plan a meal we ran off to visit her! (she is doing very well thank goodness) But now I'm realizing hospitals and times like this are filled with fast food trips and vending machine visits... Well these don't exactly work for me... And its hard, and some times embarrassing telling people your on a diet so you cant get anything from McDonalds. I was able to come home and eat a Tuna sandwich for lunch and i have only been drinking water so far today :) But I was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips on how to stay on track at times like this! Any advice would be great! Thanks a bunch!

I almost always have food with me because you're right, getting stuck without real healthy options in the middle of the day is no bueno. In mah car, in mah backpack, in mah locker...I'm a mobile pantry

Fruit, protein bars, healthier cereals and such are all easy to toss in your purse and then *poof* you're never stuck with the choice of swinging by McD's or going hungry. Hope that helps :flowerforyou: And a big hug to you, the boyfriend, and the granny!

I try to keep tuna pouches in my hand bag. I often have healthy snacks in the car - dried fruit / nuts, portion controlled. You could consider keeping a protein bar in your handbag too.

These at least will hold you on for a few hours till you have time to get something more substantial.
  • You can pack snacks like people have suggested. You could even pack yogurt and cottage cheese and tuna sandwiches in a cooler. You can also plan to eat at mcdonalds all day long and stay within your calorie goal and even plan to have enough protein.
