I am 165 lbs 5'7" and doing insanity workouts and eating 5 times a day at 1300-1500 calories a day. Does anyone have suggestions for supplements, proteins or vitamins? I don't know much about them and would appreciate some suggestions thanks everyone!

  • Looks like your goal is to lose weight. So, based on that, I would suggest a good multi vitamin to start. As far as protien goes, look for products that do not contain alot of other things in them. Whey is a good choice. Casien is a good choice for bedtime. I have not used soy, but I hear it has its place. Basically, whey protien is what I use. I take 3-4 shakes a day, depending on the exercise program. I use a number of other suppliments as well. However, you need to decide on your goal. Many factors paly into creating a good suppliment stash. I am losing fat and gaining muscle. So, I use creatine, BCCA, NOS, Fish oil and a pre-workout. I also use arginine and T booster. I like to use a energy boost product for cardio too. It really depens on your goals. Take a trip to your local Vitamin Shop or other store and ask questions. They will have all the answers you need. Just keep in mind that real food is always best and these are just to help.

I go with a multivitamin once a day and multiple doses of vitamin C (I like Ester-C) and Omega 3 with Fish Oil throughout the day. I try to get one gram of whey protein per pound of body weight every day except my 2 rest days a week. The whey is more for strength training, but it makes a great meal replacement if your dieting (as long as you get the appropriate amount of "real food" as well. Good luck! You're off to a great start!

I just finished reading The Complete Idiots Guide To Vitamins and Minerals. It is a very simple and read. It would be a handy reference, too. You mention your height and weight. Some multi-vitamins are made for certain ages.
Check out the book. Very educational.
