Hello Everyone - New Here

Just finding my way around MFP a bit more.
I've been logging calories for about 2 weeks or so now and have found this website so helpful.
I need to lose around half a stone (7lbs) to get into the 'normal' BMI range and get fitter all round. In March I had some gallbladder problems which spurred me on to get myself fitter and slimmer.
So, I invested in a turbo-trainer to make my road bike (which I've hardly used due to prior dizziness issues) into a stationary bike. My new set of scales came today, so I'm making a start.
I'm researching exercises to improve my strength too ... but all of it is a small step at a time.

Hi Sandie!
Welcome to the group! There are a number of members who are fighting that last 10-20 pounds who will be great resources and support for you.
I'll try to be great support - but I have a LONG way to go before that last 10-20 pounds
Have a great weekend - in all ways!

Thank you for the lovely welcome. I forgot to mention that I am in the UK but you may have guessed that by my reference to half a stone! Actually a whole 14lbs would be ideal, but this isn't an ideal world! I'll settle for normal BMI and take it from there. I'm already feeling as though I am clearer-headed and have more energy.
I downloaded an app for my stationary bike to alleviate the boredom. I am in awe of those Tour de France cyclists!
One weird thing is that one of the tracks for the cycling is by the ocean and I flinch when a cyclist overtakes me and feel a little dizzy when there's a sheer drop. I then focus on the dining room table for a while which brings me back to reality!
Are any of you doing strength/weight bearing exercises at all?0 -
Welcome. I am new myself and have found everyone to be so very encouraging. I still have a long way to go to reach my goal but am determined to eventually get there. Welcome again you are among friends here.0

Sandie - would you share the app for the bike with me please? I am just starting to use my Fire and would appreciate apps to help workouts go better. Today I used a walking app on a tropical paradise with ocean waves crashing, which were loud at times. I liked it a lot!0

Hi Smilesback
Here is the link

It's worth trying the free app first (cycling up a snowy mountain) to see whether you like it or not. The upgrade to the PRO version is only £1.49 - no idea what that converts to in dollars. The app gives you options to cycle in daylight, sunset or night. I still feel I want to swerve at times and the sheer drops still make me a bit dizzy even though I'm just in my own dining room!0 -
Hi Sandie and welcome......sounds like you have a great plan there.... I am in the UK too and have been fighting that last half stone for a while....more or less there but just come back this afternoon from a weekend in London so not getting weighed for a few days...haha!
I recently took up running.....about 8 months ago and although it doesn't seem to be helping with weight loss I do think it is keeping me fit.... treated myself to a wow pair of running trainers in London...bright orange and black......they are called Pegasus so I will be FLYING! HA!
