Can anyone tell me why there is no column for 'calories burned' under Strength Training. We must be burning calories while we are doing these exercises.

Everyone have a great weekend and thank you.

    Hi Karen,

While there are no calories burned listed on strength training, you can put them in as cardio calories IF you know what you burned. That I think is the problem. There are too many variables on strength training. Are you doing fast reps of a lighter weight? Are you lifting heavy?

If you have a heart rate monitor that keeps track of what you are burning in calories, you could probably do something on your own. I did early in this when I wanted to count every single calorie, but I figure that gaining lean muscle is going to make me burn more calories all the time so why question how many I've burned in the hour of lifting? I also know there are always what used to be called BLT's of dieting (Bites, Licks and Tastes) that either don't make it into my journal at all or may be underestimated. Not counting calorie burn for strength offsets that at least somewhat.

Eventually I will have lost enough weight that all of this WILL really matter, but needing to lose at least 75 more pounds per the doctor and 100+ for my personal goal, I'm not there yet.

That's my guesswork. That and $3 will still not buy you a Starbucks Skinny Latte, so take it for what it is worth. I look forward to any other discussion.

I log my strength training under cardio. I normally do 25 minutes of strength training this includes rest time between sets. This is the only way I know to log them.
