I have been thoroughly enjoying this thread titled "lean folks trying to get leaner"

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/113609-relatively-light-people-trying-to-get-leaner

And Stroutman81 is so knowledgeable and interesting to read - but, several times in the article he says that a lot of the advice doesn't apply to people who need to lose 50 or more lbs.

Does anyone have any threads they can share that discusses the effects/pros/cons/benefits of resistance training and cardio (and the proper prescription of such) for people in the 50+ lbs to lose category?

  • I don't know if this will really help you at all, but I visit a blog - www.344pounds.com. The guy there gives great advice and he's how I found out about MFP.

I hope you can find the help you're looking for.

    Hi there JeanMargaret!

I was just hoping to find a thread similar to the one I posted in my OP that explores weight loss/muscle toning in the same amount of depth, only targeted to people who have A LOT to lose rather than light people trying to get leaner. I think we have different issues/challenges.
