too much protein is not going to hurt you if your overall calories are in a deficit.

    ^This.

OP- You can also up your fat intake a little bit as well. Fat isn't bad for you.

I agree! I am always over in protein and under in carbs and fat.
  • I have the same issue. I know that a lot of protein is good, but how do I know how much is the best for my body? MFP says my daily goal is 49, but most days i eat anywhere from 60 - over 100 (i'm not very consistent). Is there a rule of thumb for what a good goal is? Like maybe a percentage of total calories for proteins, carbs, and fats?

Also, how do you change the goal settings for your nutrients?

The default setting % of protein on MFP is pretty low. Your current setting for protein before workout is only 45g. I'm sure you could use more.

Found a site might help you easily determine your intake: http://www.howmuchprotein.com/daily-protein-intake.php

Basic rule (NOTE: this is based on kilogram, not pound):
0.5 to 1.0 gram per kilogram of body weight to maintain
1.5 to 2 grams per kilogram to build muscles (when you do serious weight lifting, etc)
