How can you not love getting a HUGE box of panko crumbs for little more than a regulat store charges for a full box or 2 Agave syrups for almost the same price as one in a grocery store? The list goes on but when all is said and done and you get through the cash....OMG how did I spend so much?:noway: At least my cupboards look healthy although overstuffed.

it is really hard not to get into the bad stuff just cuz it's a good deal!0

It's worth it to spend say, $100 in one shot, than to spend say, $175+ in smaller installments, for the same amount of food....0

I'm letting my membership lapse this year. P!sses me off that you have to pay for a membership. Used to be worth it just for the meat, but now I carve my own.
I just don't need cases of anything anymore. Their pricing is not even competitive anymore. I can do just as well at Winco, Walmart or United Grocers.0 -

We use the Costco American Express card and our rebate has paid for the membership each time. Having raised a family of 4 hungry teenagers, Costco has proven to be a great deal for a lot of regular staple items, especially produce, rotisserie chickens ( you can't buy and cook a roaster chicken for $4.88/$5 on your own), and dairy products like milk and butter (butter avgs $2.50 at Costco, but at supermarket it's $3.50/$4). The OTC drugs are cheaper than any pharmacy, and the Movie tickets for AMC/Lowes is a great deal all the time. Each year we get back about $800 rebate from using our Costco Amex Card, we charge everything we buy, but carry a zero balance, because we pay it all off each month. And where can you get an 18inch fresh pizza for $9 ($6 on sale). Their gas is usually 3-5 cents cheaper than anything in the immediate area, which doesn't sound like much, but then we get 3% back towards our rebate too.
Last Easter I got the most fabulous Lamb Chops from them to BBQ in my smoker, hell of a deal. This year I got two 2-zone water timers for irrigating/sprinklers for $20 each, at Lowes or Home Depot they cost a heck of a lot more.
As with anyplace each business has loss leaders and then they sell products that are meant for the impulsive buyer in order to make a profit. It's up to the shopper to pick and choose wisely.
Now if you want to know a shopping club that is a rip-off, then take a look at Direct Buy, which as a multi-thousand dollar member's enterance fee cost. They tell you that you will save twice that much when you remodel your kitchen.,,,lol

Thanks, Shawn. I guess if there was ONE store that satisfied everyone's need, there would only be ONE store Chain.
We used to use Costco a lot. Served it's purpose. I can get much better deals at Winco and United Grocers though. My family doesn't use credit, so can't utilize AmEx.
