What is going on with my metabolism? In my 20's it wasn't this difficult to lose weight. I was able to lose 70lbs in 8 months easily by running and healthy eating. I have went down a dress size, so I know I'm toning, but the scale won't move. I also have had 2 children, could that be a reason my metabolism has slowed down. It seems like my body wanst to hold on to this weight...argh. Can anyone give me any healthy suggestions please???????????

Many people will tell you that your metabolism does slow down in your 30's, possibly due to loss of muscle mass, esp. after 2 kids. However, sometimes it's hormonal. Hypothyroidism- under-active thyroid- is very common in women in their 30's and MIGHT be a reason to not lose weight. If you really feel like you're stuck, ask you Dr. to screen you- simple blood test- if he/she hasn't already. Otherwise, kick up the cardio- weight-bearing like running- and definately make sure you're weight training!!! Hope this helps.

"Researchers have found that as we get older, the best chance we have to burn fat, and speed up our metabolism, is to eat five or six very small meals a day."

I tell my kids that my body is more used to the fat and doesn't want to let it go!
