Please talk to your teens, especially girls about domestic violence and pay attention to their behaviors and any changes.

Talk to your sons about walking away from situations and teach them to talk arguments through without laying their hands on their mate.

This story is so heart breaking as I am a survivor of Domestic Violence.

Absolutely! Thank you for the post. This is such an important subject. I understand completely. Having grown up in a highly abusive environment, I have done everything I can to stop the horrible cycle in my family! It can be done! But you're right...it has to be taught, discussed and changed! We can do that! We can't be afraid to bring it out in the open. Thank you for sharing this! -- Judy

I have five sons and one daughter. My four older sons are 12-17, we have taught them that if they EVER see anyone hurting a girl that they are to stand up for the girl. My oldest son had to do that once when a boy punch a friend of his!

My DH treats me like gold and so my sons treat women with respect.

I grew up in that same environment and then ended up in an abusive relationship in highschool.
