A friend of mine recommended Pilates to me for core strengthening. Does anyone do Pilates? Is there a workout DVD around that would work as well?

I do pilates. :) It's a great way to exercise.
The DVD I do does 20mins standing and working on core strength,
then you can do another 20mins after that on a mat if you want.
The standing one works up a sweat on its own.

    Here's the DVD i do.

I do pilates from time to time. It's great for core strength and I also sometimes use it as a warm up/cool down exercise on workout days. I don't use any DVDs and use the ones on my TV though
  • I, too, am beginning Pilates with a DVD called Pilates for inflexible people. I am pretty flexible, but definitely overweight, so it seemed like a good starter place...
  • I got the Pilates for Inflexible People. It definitely sounds like me. lol!!! Thanks for all your suggestions, ladies! :D

If you have Netflix, look for pilates and you will find some awesome workouts. I do the Crunch Super Slim Down. It is a blend of yoga and pilates. The first time I did it I sweat more than I have ever...It became progressively easier to do over time. I LOVE this workout and look forward to it. It is the type of wrokout where you don't just sort of feel like you did something- you are reminded every time you move a muscle. I have not been doing it that long, but I read reviews and it seems people get results. I would try it.
  • It doesn't burn a ton of calories, but it definitely tones us your core, which will make you more effective with other exercises as well. I have 10 Minute Solution. It's a good little workout when I don't have much time.
  • I love the ones on Netflixe if you have it. Especially the ones that combine it with cardio. It's really hard at first, but just like with anything else you'll get the hang of it if you try. It's really fun, and if you really stick with it and keep challenging yourself you will see results.
