I haven’t been keeping track til recently but I’m 28weeks and have gained 8kg approx which is about 17.6lbs I think? I had 12kgs to loose pre preg though, I am aiming not not gain more than 11.5 kg (25lb) and then try and loose the whole 24kg after birth.

Good news is, you won’t have 24 kg to lose. After the baby is out, you lose the excess blood, the uterus gets back to normal 6 kg have “disappeared”, plus if part of that weight is water retention which it probably is that will go away too.

But after a c-section you lose water weight slower due to the fluids you get IV and the trauma.

I'm over it. I wish I was one of those people whose weight slows down at the end, but I guess I'm not. I'm too tired to care. I have another growth scan. I have gained 5 pounds since my last one, so I guess that's not horrible.

I spoke to my midwife at length who said I'm totally fine- she mainly wants me to do whatever I need to do to stop worrying about this. She said if telling myself I'm only going to gain 20lbs would make me feel better that's perfectly healthy for me. The main thing is the stress and obsessive behavior that I need to get under control. I'm reducing my weigh-ins to every other day and eventually would like to get down to only weekly. Weight seems to be the point where my anxiety is converging and apparently it's not a relatable problem so my usual support system has me feeling pretty isolated about it. I just wish no one would ever say to me "you can't control your weight during pregnancy" because I'm finding it SUUUUPER triggering- not true not true not true!!! *Clings tighter to control*

@noel2fit It's kind of crazy that your support system can't relate to worrying about weight gain! It is definitely something that I worry about quite a bit, although I'd love to not stress about it so much. I only weigh once a week, but I find that I get pretty anxious when the day comes, so I give myself some grace - sometimes I wait 2 weeks between weighing or wait a day or 2 to do it. I figure as long as I have a ballpark figure of where I am and don't wait TOO long between weighing, I don't necessarily have to be religious about it. Looks like you're doing great so far!

My goal was initially to stay under 30 lbs gained, but I'll have to bump that to 35 lbs, and I feel like I may gain more than that. :confounded: Trying not to stress about it too much, but it's hard to see the scale going up every week!

Hugs! You have to do whatever you can to reduce that anxiety, so follow your plan and reduce weighins as comfortable. You can't control all the weight gain (obviously baby, fluid, blood etc are coming like it or not but you're still very early in) but of course there's some control otherwise we'd not post here lol. That stress is bad for baby and your midwife will make sure your on track regarding weight. So breath when you can.

Thanks you guys I really appreciate the support! I am working on worrying less and being zen- I am not an underweight woman, baby is going to be fine, weight will come, and I need to just relax and indulge a craving when it pops up. I'm following some intuitive eating accounts on Instagram and trying to internalize their messages.

I get induced in exactly 1 week. I got my cervix checked yesterday and I am not at all dilated, which means it will probably be a long induction.

@noel2fit how did your weight gain go with your first? Maybe if you can compare it some way to your previous pregnancy, you will help your anxiety? While I did went over my 25 pound goal by a few, I gained 40 in my last, with similar starting weights.

@KellyBgetsfit You're going to have a baby in your arms so soon!!! Luck with the induction- hope all goes smoothly! My starting weight is about the same and last time I gained 25lbs exactly. The main difference is the worry- I feel like anxiety attacked me out of left field and I don't know how to shut it off.

My weight was a slightly lower yesterday, but I thought it was a fluke, so I weighed again today. A .4 lb gain in 2 weeks? I'll take it, lol.

Hey everyone! We had our baby boy yesterday afternoon, one day before his due date! 6lbs 15oz :) .. I am doing great, labour was tough but got through it..recovery is going very well so far. Total gained 30lbs.

It's definitely going to be an adjustment with three little ones now!

Hope you are all doing well

I was going to try not to weigh-in but I've decided once a week is okay since I need to make sure I'm gaining. I'm having a gout flare-up and have decided to eat vegetarian to avoid more flares while pregnant/nursing so I need to watch my gain and protein.
