Hello! I'm 5'4" and 23 years old, and my name is Cody (female). It is VERY nice to meet all of you. Please feel free to be my friend.
I have two good friends on here, already-- all just starting in the past two weeks, as I have. I have been using "My Diet Diary", until I found this amazing website/android ap! I can't wait to get started.
When I started my regime, I weighed 178. I was THE indulger. I indulged myself with everything-- refills of Dr. Pepper? Duh, I'm thirsty! A chocolate chip cookie at Subway? Why not-- I just ate a healthy sandwich! And the list goes on. Two months ago, I realized that my 14s were getting tight and I was becoming depressed. I looked in the mirror and for the first time, I really looked. I decided to make a change. I started small-- no cokes, no candies. Then I got inspired. After a month of dieting, I started going to my apartment gym (the reason I moved into these apartments, anyway!) -- I started on the elliptical and after 10 minutes, I thought I'd die. Now, just over a month later, I'm on a strict 1200 calorie diet and going to the gym 5 - 6 times a week-- 40 minutes on the elliptical, 5.25 miles, burning around 600 calories each time! This is the first time I've held on to a routine-- with being at university (I graduated last May) I could never find a routine that fit my crazy schedule. Now, as of this year, I have a stable 8 - 5 job and have been able to set some realistic goals for myself.
I now weigh 168 (10 pounds in two months!!) and am on my way towards my goal-- to be a size 10 by August. It sounds hurried, I understand, but my husband and I are going to celebrate our first anniversary in his home country-- Turkey. Lots of cruises and swimming, and I want to be in the best shape I can be! Seeing all of ya'll posts really keep me motivated and I know I'm not alone.

Struggles:
-I find the hardest thing to do is to watch my caloric intake while eating out.
-I find it hard to eat foods that are not preservatives -- I am rarely home because of my long commute to work and my gym time.
-It is hard for me to find that blurry line between doing this the healthy way and obsessing over protein gram intake, carb intake, and reading all of the contradicting articles online-- one says lower carbs, one says more carbs, one says count calories, one says don't!! So many different things running through my head-- it's hard sometimes not to sit down and realize I do what I can do, and I do it because it feels healthy! And it's as simple as that.
-My previous workouts can intimidate me-- I feel like if I don't do as good as I did the day before, I'm regressing.
-I never know if what I'm eating or doing is the best decision. I'm an indecisive person, but I just have to feel that I'm doing *something*!!
My regular eating schedule:
Breakfast: Either a luna bar or, if I wake up early, egg beaters! I have about 15 minutes to get ready before I have to commute to work near downtown, so large breakfasts are impossible. Usually ~200 calories for breakfast.
Lunch: Either a 6" wheat Subway turkey breast, a meal from My Fit Foods, breakfast, OR on days when I need to splurge, I get the lean turkey breast meal at Boston Market with veggies. Usually ~250 - 450 calories in total for lunch.
Dinner: I work out right when I get home, so I pump the elliptical and then eat immediately after. I eat a Lean Cuisine because of the carbs and low calories, and some bread. I am a bread lover, and this or lunch is the only time I can have some! If I eat a sandwich at lunch, I leave the bread out. ~ 350 - 400 calories.
Snacks: Luna bar! I'm obsessed with the Nuts Over Chocolate bars, and I know people dislike their nutrition, but they have a good amount of calories, protein, and calcium-- something I can't get as often, being lactose intolerant. -180 calories
So there you have it! That's about all I can think of-- any advice or personal experience or hellos are welcome!
