Banks introduced me to Tabata Protocol. I applied it to jump rope. The problem is, the underside of my foot arch is super sore. Sore enough that I'm favoring it and limping slightly.
I thought plantar fasciitis was the tendon that wrapped around from the heel to the ball of your foot?
Should I give myself a break - maybe going back to HIIT for a couple days and laying off the jump rope?

Plantar Facitis, could be...most likely not. When you wake up in the morning are u in most pain? If you are perhaps then. Pain on the bottom of the foot can be due to the calves, Gasroc, and Solius muscles being tense. You can't really "stretch" the bottom of your foot, for theres no muscles there any way, just tissue, or fascia.
If you have a golf ball, or a cold stiff water bottle roll your arch over them. That can make a big impact, with the assistance of stretching your Gastroc, (the muscles toward the outside of you calves) and your Solius (the muscle in the middle and deep to the Gastroc).

I hope this helps...And REST! always helps...

Is the pain in the arch of the foot? Pain from plantar fasciitis usually feels like it is in the middle of the heel of the foot.

Sami - the pain is constant, not worse in the morning or night... it's worse when I'm off my feet then get up to walk. I don't think my calves are stiff as I'm not feeling any soreness in those muscles. I know it's not an inflammation as I am taking Celebrex for Epicondylitis and I feel no pain there
I don't know, I'm going to take a tylenol, see if that helps a little.

Sarro - Pain in right in the underside of the arch of the foot.

Rolling your foot over a frozen bottle of water will help no matter what it is. I would say some rest for it is in order.

definitely try rolling the foot over a small ball...or...a cold water bottle. I am confident that will help you the most. In this case, sounds like a typically overuse injury. And take this serious, this can often cause stress-fractures in the foot if ignored!

Also, if your arch hurts maybe you just need some proper arch supports. Are your shoes flat inside?

I often have pain in my arches because I have high arches, and shoes sometimes don't give me support like they should. Also, I wear very high heals to dance (it comes with the territory for Tango). So when I need to make them feel better, I:

    1) massage them (or better yet, get someone else to massage them)
    2) roll some ball under my foot (the colder the better, like others have mentioned)
    3) do foot stretches every morning and night in bed: point/flex/point/flex... and roll (sometimes holding the ankle while rolling the foot helps too) to get my feet in better shape so I can do more in the day.

Jules - relatively new Asics. about 3-6 months usage. I thought maybe it was time to change them as they felt looser, but I think my feet are sliming out a little too.
RF - ahhh a foot massage - time to book a pedicure
