My daughter.....

started Pre-K today, she is going to all day Pre-K. So this morning I was getting her, myself and Jacob ready to go to take her to the school (she is going to the same elementary school that I went to as a kid) and she got up in my lap and said I'll miss you mama, I started tearing up. I took her to the school and she grabs my hand and I look down at her little face and she looks like she is going to cry, I almost started crying then, but the teacher got her to sit next to her and I kiss her and tell her to be a good girl, I just hope she is a good girl today. I have to go back and get her at 2:40, unless I get a phone call to come and get her or come and be with her before then.

My daughter turned 4 on Saturday. We started talking how she will be in kindergarten next year.
Oh your story made me fast-forward my own daughter's life and start to   :sad:0 -
aw hugs! That is so hard!!! :flowerforyou:0

Don't worry, she'll be fine! My daughters started pre-school last year and I cried like a baby (in the school!) The teachers let me sit in the office and watch them on the security monitor and when I finally left I called up there every couple of hours. :blushing: It gets easier I promise!! Now I look forward to taking them, they get to have fun and I get a minute to myself.
They say the rule of thumb is:
1st day mom cries
2nd day child cries
3rd + day everybody is fine.
Good Luck :flowerforyou:0 -
:flowerforyou: It goes so fast ... I remember when I was going through the same thing with my daughter on her first day of kindergarten, and now she's going to be a sophomore in high school.
I've gone through several childhood milestones since then, and I get teary-eyed for all of them! Today I dropped her off at the school for her first day of swim team for this season, and driver's ed this afternoon (I can't believe it!:ohwell: ) ... last night I made her come in to my room at bedtime to have a little chat and a big hug (which I rarely get anymore!). I wish we could keep them little forever ... but on the other hand it is so fun and fulfilling to see them growing up and accomplishing things too!
Have a great day! I'm sure your daughter will do great! :flowerforyou:0 -
I'm going to cry like a big ol' baby next year when my daughter starts kindergarten0

Its tough I know my son (my baby) started kindergarten last year, it was tough watching him getting on that big kid bus going off to school but it is such a good experience for them. they get to make friends and learn alot. my son had so much fun in kindergarten last year he is doing it again this year. My older child, my daughter, is going into 4th, I can still remember her first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday. they grow fast.0

I feel your pain. When my baby girl started preschool I cried, but she was just fine. Then when she started kindergarten and rode that big old school bus with the other bigger kids I cried again. Again, she was just fine. Now my baby girl is all grown up with children of her own. Your daughter really will be just fine. I think it's harder on the mom than it is on the child. Good luck to you. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0

I don't have kids yet, but I'll give you something from the kids perspective. When I was about 4 my mom used to take me to pre-school a couple of morings a week. I was shy but warmed up pretty quickly once there. So even though I had a blast the day before, every morning I didn't want to go and cried. My mom must have said something about being worried about me, because I told her, don't worry mommy, I cry for a little bit but then once you're gone I go play with my friends and have a good time.:laugh:0

thanks everyone for the kind words, I feel better and the teacher hasn't called so I guess she is doing great.0

I'm sure she is doing great Mom! I'll be right there with you next week though when baby girl goes off for her first day of Kindergarden. Wednesday! She did pre-school last year - 2 days a week. That was hard the first day - especially since my shy, slow to warm up little girl gave me a quick hug and wave and was off playing and looking at books! *gulp*
I don't know how it is going to be this year dropping her off for full day kindergarden, but I'm a little sad already - excited too! She is over the top excited! It does get easier - it did with my older daughter anyway. :flowerforyou:0 -

she had a great day, and the teacher even put a sticker on it her calendar, that is what they do when they are good.0
