Cleaning

Hello!
I normally don't count things like cleaning in my exercise because I think that I put on weight while doing regular cleaning so it shouldn't really be extra activity. But today I have cleaned my house from top to bottom, things like washing carpets on my hands and knees, moving furniture etc. It has taken me several hours to do and because of this I haven't had time to do my usual daily exercise. Would you count this as exercise? I can certainly say that I got very hot and sweaty while doing it!
Thanks

I don't get that part. Definitely some heavy duty "spring" cleaning would count towards exercise. Take into consideration the time you were actually working hard and sweating, and log that amount of time.0 -
Absolutely count your cleaning in as your excercise, house cleaing is hard work! While cleaning you are using a whole different set of muscles and it is good excercise, especially the heavy cleaing you did! I know when I clean if just justing, vaccuuming, washing the floor, cleaning the bathroom I put down I did light to moderate house cleaning for whatever time it took me but like you did that is definately heavy cleaning and should be counted! Under "Excercise" then "Cardiovascular" they have "House cleaning light/moderate" & House cleaning moderate/heavy" You will be surprised, happily, at what calories you burn by house cleaning! In fact when I wash my car by hand and clean it out I use the house cleaning for it since they don't have one for washing your car!
