Hiya, I'm thinking about making my own peanut/almond/cashew butter and was wondering if anyone else makes their own?
If so, how long will it keep for in the fridge? Does it freeze well?
Thanks, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have never made my own so I'm not sure how long it'll last but I've seen alot of posts on blogs about making your own. Seems easy enough.

The Food Network recipe says it'll last up to 2 months in the fridge.0 -
I make my own peanut butter, but I can't help you much with the "how long does it last" question because my boys generally eat it up in a week...2 tops. *lol*0

I make my own hazelnut butter using 3 cups and its still good after one month in the fridge. As to how long it can last, either in the fridge or freezer, I honestly can't say.0

Thanks everyone, that's at least given me a rough idea. I didn't want to make a batch and then be binning it after a week or so! :frown:
I think I'll definitely give it a go now, I'm (still!) trying to improve my protein intake so I think a home made nut butter wouold entice me more than shop bought with additives.0 -

Hi, can I just ask, aside from nuts what else do you add to yours? I've seen recipes that involve oil, some that have sugar and some that are just plain nuts and water (although I can't see that being very nice), where should I be heading?0
