So I just found this site today (but i am not new to calorie counting) and have had a looming question for some time now. What are you actually supposed to listen to? Only eating 1300-1500 calories no matter what, or eating more than that so my NET calories are a minimum 1200?? Aka is it net calories I need to pay attention to or just calories eaten? please help!

Your Net Calories are the calories you are supposed to eat before any exercise. After you log your exercise, that will be added on. Just follow the Calories Remaining, and you will be fine.0

I ask that because I am extremely active... for example today i ran 9.5 miles, so its telling me i need to eat like 2000 calories! ok well i dont think eating 2000 calories is going to promote my weight loss.. does this make sense?0

Hi
You will still maintain a caloric deficit when you eat your exercise calories. there are lots of good threads to read to completely explain how it works, they are stuck to the top of the general weight loss forum. I put one link below. good luck & welcome!

seeing that you only have 8lbs to lose, you will want to have only a very small deficit, like less than 500 cals/day, which equates to less than 1/2 lb loss per week. So you will still be eating quite a bit.0

Net calories is calories consumed less calories burned. So if you eat 1200 cals all day then exercise & burn 500 cals, your net calories would be 700 which will eventually put your body in starvation mode. That doesn't mean you have to eat all your exercise calories, but you should be eating some-most of them. For example, my daily calories are 1200 & I burned 900 at the gym giving me 2100 cals for the day. I have 200 leftover & have no intention of eating anymore today0
