I just started in MFP (I've only been in a week). Here I am, trying to lose weight, and I'm already in reverse gear.
I'm dealing with people who bring not-so-good food in.
How do you all stay motivated and keep going?

Someone once told me "if you are tired of starting over stop quitting!" so everytime i wanna eat that 500 calorie snack cake I remind myself that, that snack cake is holding me back from reaching my goal. Because once you start putting it into habbit it will become 2nd nature. GOOD LUCK AND STAY MOTIVATED!0

I'm in the same boat you're in. I've only been on MFP for a week and my family brings the-not-so-good food in! But I try to stay motivated by telling myself that the not-so-good food is nasty and that I don't need it. Works almost every time for me.0

I started by eating less of the not so good food and started to replace it with the good food. Meaning on a normal day I might have eaten half a bag of chips.. I started to separate exactly one serving and put the rest up. I would drink water with and after, or my 1 soda/juice/alternate for the day If I hadn't had it yet(if I was pouring into a glass I only had one glass)... if I wanted anything more it was fruits or veggies or whatever in the house I could find that was 'healthy'.. I do the shopping for my family so it wasn't an issue getting the good stuff in but maybe you can go out and get a few healthy snacks for yourself.. the store has calorie packs of almost everything now.. think nuts to help keep you full, eggs for protein.. boil a few for the week and have one when you want a snack.. a natural peanut butter & banana's.. a sliced tomato with whatever you're eating already, avacado in a salad... it takes some creativity for sure.. but as long as you start to limit the bad and reach for the good.. I had to give myself a daily 1-2 items at the beginning and slowly cut back.. now I get a few a week.. Can't cut it out entirely, my husband would have a fit
Good luck!

Food-shopping responsibilities are shared here. We've got one fussy-eater who will only eat certain things (refuses to try anything new) and MUST have meat for dinner. The other fussy eater claims milk is bad for you (but has no problem drinking it herself).
I'm learning what works as healthy snacks. Amazing--what I think is healthy actually has a bunch of fat or something else I don't want.
One way I do have of telling myself I really don't want that bag of potato chips: do I really want to pay the price for half-a-bag of air? (check out a bag of chips in the store next time--it really is half a bag of air!)0
