  • How's being vegetarian going for you? One of our friends here switched over this summer and she loves it.

Being vegetarian really opened my eyes to how bad food can be. Especially frozen food like chicken nuggets in a bag, or meat in general. I was pure vegetarian for about 3 1/2 months and after 2 months drake joined in and we both had the same outlook. When you switch back from being vegetarian, it really opens your eyes because you feel sluggish, more lazy/tired, its like being out all night drinking and waking up the next day. You feel terrible and your stomach hurts the next day. We had to take it slow. Now, we do eat meat, but only free range and organic and we try to eat it only once a day in small amounts if we do. I fill alot of my diet with more fruits and vegetables and I feel a lot better. It actually helps your skin not be as oily either which I found fascinating. The worse part, not a pretty conversation, but going to the bathroom was different. Vegetables flush out your system... Drake the first week could not stop going to the bathroom because of all the meat and toxins that were in his body and as soon as he was pure vegetarian his body completely knocked everything bad out of him. But you feel lighter, you feel better and I wouldn't trade that experience. My only problem was I was not eating the right foods... when I first started, alot of potatos and french fries. I didn't cook a lot then. Now I'm doing my own recipes and love cooking! Its something creative that me and drake do together. Do your research and try it. Meat is great and I love it, but the feeling I got from being vegetarian was an eye opener. After a while you don't crave meat and it doesn't bother you but the first 2 weeks are hard. Especially since I had a lot of friends that teased me about it until drake did it. We both loved it! I even have those same friends over and used substitute meat to see their reaction and they had no clue! lol it was funny how their outlook changed you just have to educate them. Research your foods and you'll find a lot of chemicals and bleach in a lot of it. If you have any questions let me know! :)

I am very glad that you are taking a vegetarian route. I am a 70 yr old vegan. I am trying to get my 26 yr old daughter to eat healthier but it is a struggle. She needs to loose another 70 lbs. I also love to cook. I love to create vegetarian dishes. I also collect cookbooks and have about 20 vegetarian ones. I have posted some of my vegan recipes on this board. I do all the cooking so I cook meat for my daughter and vegan for my son. My daughter will only eat organic. We help support others on this board. There are so many people here who need encouragement. I just made some pumpkin cranberry orange cookies. They turned out great. When I started on this board I was not able to walk more than 1/2 a block. Now I am walking 3 miles a day and working out at the gym. Let me know if you help on your new life style.
