So, just about to start at a university, moved to a new town and such, and I thought, "Well, what the heck, I'll try something new and different." And, that's how I came to sign up for tryouts for our women's rowing team, having NEVER done it before and not really being in that great of shape. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm overweight (5'10" and 165lbs) and I'm reasonably active, I just don't really work out much. I've been doing some kettlebell and jump rope for the past week, but tomorrow, on the first day, they want us to jog 2 miles(eek!). While I know to some of you that doesn't seem like much, I haven't done any jogging in the past couple of months and I'm not entirely confident in my ability to do 2 miles right off the bat :frown:

Any advice, tips, or even just some good ol' encouragement would be appreciated!

I rowed post-college for years.... and LOVED it. It is a fantastic sport- full body workout, team spirit, and an amazing stress release. I'm sure a 2 mile run won't be easy... but it will be worth it! Today I went for a walk at the bay and saw a single on the water.... and felt tremendous jealousy. If I could make rowing fit into my work schedule, I would go back to it in a heartbeat!

    GO FOR IT!!!!

I'm almost afraid of falling in love with it, that is if I make it. I want to do study abroad next year though, and I won't be able to do both :(
