New and eager!

Hi all,

New here, and already liking the site ;) Ive been working out the last couple of weeks and already Im addicted, Im going crazy as my gym is closed this week for xmas. Im loving the classes more than the gym, and trying to learn about eating healthily, although its been a bit hit and miss over the holidays. My aim is to lose two stone, so fingers crossed. Its a whole new lifestyle for me, I even went for a swim in the sea on xmas day, and Im doing a sponsored swim again on New Years Day.

New Year, new me ;)

Good Morning. Welcome to the site. I have found this site to be just what I needed to get in the right helathy living state of mind. Feel free to send a friend request. Also, I moderate a group called One Day At A Time. Look us up. Best of luck with your new journey.

  • Thanks, Brenda. I'm reading a book about "habits" and one thing that is strongly encouraged is to join a community of like minded folk. So here I am:) I need to lose about 40 pounds. I've started keeping track of what I eat and I'm on day 3 of my new morning routine: 5 min of rowing, crunches, and 60 min of walking. One thing that I realize already is that I'm eating too many carbs.
  • Wow, Carolineire, that sounds great! What type of classes does your gym offer? Zumba looks like fun. How many pounds equal a stone?

Belinda, I am with you on the cards. I had to do some serious reevaluation and with time I was able to change my habits. Although I still struggle, I am focused. I am working out a new routine which is becoming difficult as I am now commuting to work which takes up 2 hours of my time BUT also requires 2 miles of walking a day. Let me know if you need me to send you a group invite.

Hey Belinda! There's 14 lbs in a stone, so 28 lbs is my goal, I forgot about the whole metric thing!

I love aerobox, a mix of boxing, circuits and aerobics, it's a lot of work but worth it. I also do ab attack, spin, body sculpt, I didn't like Zumba because I felt really uncoordinated, and I felt the teacher was more interested in herself, but I might try a different teacher. Next week I'm doing kettlebells for the first time, and they also have a pool, so it'll be good to mix it all up. Sometimes I've done 2 classes in a row or 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening ( only working parttime) but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not, I don't know how effective that is. I enjoy it, so I guess that's something lol!
