No Alcohol In January

I am 22 years old and VERY social. I go out a lot to clubs and out for drinks with friends. I initially decided to quit drinking this month just for a challenge...and then decided to take this opportunity to shed some pounds and detox. My boyfriend and I drink probably 5 times a week..whether it is a glass of wine before bed or a friday night out with friends.

We are challenging ourselves, but even after 3 days we are already struggling!

If anyone is on this same path or would like to join..add me as a friend!

I need serious accountability partners and major motivation!

also im attempting #SHUTUPANDTRAIN #30DAYCC 30 Day Cardio Challenge (which requires clean eating and no alcohol) i reccommend others partaking in this as well!

    Fortunately for me, I never developed a taste for alcohol, so I can't say much about your struggles. I do wish you luck though. Almost every aspect of turning your life around is difficult, so here's to hoping your willpower wins out.
  • Oh man, good luck! I'm a drinker so I totally understand how hard that is. If you go out, you can always ask for water in a bar glass; I've found that to be helpful so people think youre drinking and won't hound you to drink.

    Hi there! My husband and I are actually doing (for the most part!). We are big partiers and brew our own beer, and I am obsessed with red wine. We decided to limit our January 1 drink a week though (looks like the trend is Sunday with dinner).

    YOU CAN DO IT! I've been told that it only takes 21 days of trying something new totally change your mindset towards that certain thing. We're hoping this is the kick we need to settle down our partying urges :)

    good to know we are not alone!thanks to everyone for the encouragement - hopefully there are other people who want to cut calories this way as well - we need more people on our team!lol - 22 days to go!

    I did that last month - no alcohol for all of December. Partly for my health and partly because I wanted to ensure I didn't make an *kitten* out of myself in front of my boyfriend's family over the holidays. It's totally do-able! When we would go to bars with friends I would order a soda water with a lime wedge and tell people it was a gin and tonic. No one ever questioned it! Good luck and hang in there - you can do it!

    Im with ya woman!! I had cut myself down to thursdays and saturdays but i would always end up drinking probably 3-4 days worth of calories in those two nights so i just need to go cold turkey! I told all my friends that i wasnt going to the bar this month. I didnt buy my case of beer for the month and ive just been keeping myself so entertained with work that when i come home i just go to bed haha!! weekends will be my challenge!

    Just saw a report about this app for your phone. You upload a picture, tell it how many drinks you have, and it will show you what you will look like in 10 years.
    That might be some great motivation to stick to your resolve!
    Good for you trying to change some bad habits.

    well i hope you stay strong!work is distracting me too which is great!weekends will be a struggle for sure!hopefully you can find a buddy on the same page as you like how im making my boyfiriend do it with me!stay strong!alcohol has SO many calories and destroys muscle.not worth it!
